Zimmer: “This Is Basically a 4-Game Season For Us”

Mike Zimmer’s future with the Vikings might be coming down to this final stretch. The season has 4 games left, and Zimmer knows his guys need to step up (especially on defense).
He recently spoke to the media about the upcoming game, highlighting how crucial each game will be moving forward:
“This game,” Zimmer explained, “is extremely important to us, as the next 3 will be.” He goes on to discuss the “4-game season” and then how the Vikings will need to take care of business to get into the postseason. Before the mini bye that follows a Thursday game, Zim emphasized the importance of execution and taking care of small details. Surely he’ll be looking for his players to do these things when they travel to Chicago.
Justin Fields will present some real issues, as Zim acknowledges. It’ll also be interesting to see if the Vikings stay disciplined enough to slow Chicago’s run game.
If the season ended today, Zimmer and the Vikings would once again fall short of the postseason. A win against Chicago brings their chances up to 43%, per FiveThirtyEight. It’s not where anyone wants to be, and yet it would be far from over.

But that doesn’t mean Carroll has suddenly forgotten how to coach. It’s a similar situation to Mike Zimmer, but maybe the Minnesota Vikings are ready to move on from one veteran for another? It’s an interesting thought experiment, let’s dive in.” uploaddate=”2021-12-17″ thumbnailurl=”//cdn.brid.tv/live/partners/19439/thumb/925858_s_1639777087287.jpg” contentUrl=”https://cdn.brid.tv/live/partners/17660/streaming/925858/925858.m3u8″]
