There’s no question that the Minnesota Vikings have one of the most explosive offenses in the league. In 2020, they ranked 4th in yards and 11th in points. Minnesota took a step back in 2021, but that is largely because of the Week 17 Sean Mannion start. Last year, Minnesota stood in 12th in yards and 14th in points.

The talent on the roster is undeniable, led by one of the best receivers in the league, Justin Jefferson. Add in touchdown machine Adam Thielen, rushing anchor Dalvin Cook, and breakout youngster K.J. Osborn. This talent continues to gain traction in national press, and this time, the praise comes from ESPN. Analyst and former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky has ranked the VIkings offensive skill positions as the second-best group in the NFC.

The only team Orlovsky perceives as a better group in the conference is the Los Angeles Rams. It’s hard to argue against it as they roster the triple crown winner, Cooper Kupp, as well as new free agent signing Allen Robinson on top of Van Jefferson as an extremely overqualified WR3 and the duo of Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr. at running back.

The praise is warranted. Not only do the Minnesota Vikings have some established stars that were mentioned earlier, but they have multiple young players on the verge of a breakout season. Ihmir Smith-Marsette is being pegged as someone who could play a larger role in the Vikings offense during his second season. On top of that, the Vikings have some young studs in their backfield behind Cook.

Regardless, there are some big expectations for this rendition of the Minnesota Vikings offense. Kevin O’Connell will try to bring this unit from a fringe top-10 offense, to one of the elite groups in the NFL. The Vikings season begins on September 11th against their rival Green Bay Packers.
