Confirmed: The Vikings Are Going to London

This one has been rumored for a little while, and we now have some firm confirmation. According to reports, the Vikings are heading to London in Week 4. The opponent is the Saints and the newly-signed Tyrann Mathieu.
As the above video suggests, head coach Kevin O’Connell is excited for the rest of the schedule to be released, which will occur on May 12. Until then, we’ll need to content ourselves with the knowledge that Week 4 comes against a conference rival. Hopefully, the London crowd is firmly in Minnesota’s corner.
In recent years, the Vikings and Saints have participated in some incredible games, the playoff ones foremost among them. The Minneapolis Miracle was a high-point in Vikings history, and the first-round game following the 2019 season also produced some magic. Kirk Cousins was absolutely clutch working his Vikings down the field in OT for the win. His throws to Adam Thielen and then Kyle Rudolph for the game-winning TD were second-to-none.
The upcoming London game will hopefully feature some similar magic for the Vikings. New Orleans has been gearing up for 2022 contention. There is some great talent on that defense, and the offense now boasts Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, and first-round selection Chris Olave. Their QB situation isn’t ideal, but they’ve got enough talent to do damage. Ed Donatell’s defense will need to be sharp.
The NFC is looking fairly open when it comes to competing for the playoffs. We can expect the Rams, Bucs, and Packers to find their way in, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Dallas do a nice job in the regular season before making a swift playoff exit. The Vikings and Saints are among the teams trying to get one of the final spots, so the London game will be of some significance.
