The hiring of Andrew Healy and Ryan Pace aren’t the only moves that the Minnesota Vikings made on Tuesday. According to the Vikings’ official website, the team has officially acquired TE Marshall Lang and DL Jahvaree Ritzie.

Vikings Sign TE Marshall Lang

Standing at 6’4 and weighing around 250lbs, Lang joins a tight end room led by T.J. Hockenson, with other names like Josh Oliver, Benjamin Yurosek, Gavin Bartholomew, and Bryson Nesbit. He was an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft, and would eventually sign with the Seattle Seahawks after the conclusion of the event. He was on their roster until August of 2025, when he was ultimately released a part of roster cutdowns.

The former Northwestern Wildcat would then find a landing spot in New England signing with the Patriots on October 14th of that year. It would only last a very short time, as he was released just two days later on the 16th. Lang would return to Seattle again, this time having a stay with the Seahawks from November 6th until November 18th. The Patriots would acquire him again on December 30th, and was on the team until late-April of this year.

Per the Vikings website, Marshall Lang appeared in 51 games during his time at Northwestern. He would tally 48 receptions for 491 yards and 4 touchdowns. It is important to note that Lang had a little bit of overlap with new Vikings GM Nolan Teasley in Seattle in 2025.

Vikings Sign DL Jahvaree Ritzie

New Vikings DL Jahvaree Ritzie is a former North Carolina Tarheel who went undrafted in 2025, much like Lang. Also like Lang, he spent some time on the New England Patriots. Ritzie was in New England from early-May in 2025 until September when he was released from the team’s practice squad.

He would go on to land with the Pittsburgh Steelers, signing a futures contract in the Steel City in January of this year. The Steelers would go on to release him in late-May.

Ritzie is listed at 6’4, 290lbs. He started all 12 games during his senior season at UNC, amassing 40 tackles, a forced fumble, a PBU, and 6.5 sacks that year. The final marks for his 52-game career look a little something like 138 total tackles, 9 sacks, 2.5 TFLs, 2 PBUs, and 2 forced fumbles.

In order to make room on the roster to accommodate Lang and Ritzie, the Minnesota Vikings had to release a duo of players already on the team.

One of these players was offensive lineman Caleb Etienne. Etienne was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft. He made his way around country during his collegiate career, playing for Fort Scott, Butler, Oklahoma State, and BYU. He was released by the Bengals in August 2025 as a part of roster cutdowns. He would go almost four months without an NFL contract, before eventually landing in Minnesota in December.

Additionally, the Vikings released IDL Monkell Goodwine, whom the team signed as an undrafted free agent after the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft. Goodwine spent three season with Alabama before transferring to South Carolina and playing his final two in Columbia.
