The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly saying goodbye to Kwesi Adofo-Mensah era Assistant GM Ryan Grigson.

Reportedly, Grigson was offered a position apart from the Assistant General Manager role that he was holding. New GM Nolan Teasley recently brought in Andrew Healey and Trent Kirchner to be Assistant-GMs of the organization.

Grigson has apparently declined the role, and will seek a role with another team.

Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk reported the news earlier today.

After new Vikings General Manager Nolan Teasley hired Andrew Healy and Trent Kirchner as assistant General Managers, it was reported that Ryan Grigson was expected to remain in a different role with the team. Alas, Grigson has moved on. Neil Stratton of ScoutSpeak reports that Grigson is leaving the Vikings, where he served as assistant General Manager last season under Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Grigson was senior vice president of player personnel for the team from 2022-24.

The Vikings no longer list Grigson on their website.”

Grigson came to the Vikings in 2022 as a Kwesi Adofo-Mensah hire. Since the front office is being completely reshuffled under Nolan Teasley, Minnesota didn’t need him in a prime role. Grigson decided he would rather go ahead and get role on a different team

After the news of Grigson leaving, some funny responses were caught from Vikings fans on social media. Many wondered exactly what Grigson did while in the front office, and caught bad reputation from his time as General Manager of the Indianapolis Colts from 2012-2016. Indy was never truly able to build a team around Andrew Luck before his shocking retirement right before the 2019 NFL season.

Grigson Returning to Cleveland

Per a report from Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot, Grigson is returning to the Cleveland Browns in a Senior Football Executive role. He goes right back to where the Vikings poached him from, again working under Browns GM Andrew Berry.

The Ryan Grigson Timeline

Ryan Grigson began his front-office career with the St. Louis Rams, working in the scouting department from 1999 to 2003. He then headed to Philadelphia where he spent eight seasons, starting as a Western Regional Scout and ending as the Director of Player Personnel. In 2012, he would be offered the General Manager position by the Indianapolis Colts.

After his time in Indy, Grigson spent five seasons in Cleveland serving as a Senior Personnel Executive, Senior Football Consultant, and finally a Senior Football Advisor. This is where he would begin his professional relationship with Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, who would bring Grigson in as the Senior Vice President of Player Personnel in 2022. He held that role until 2025 when he was promoted to Assistant General Manager.

In 2026, he basically got offered a demotion, and decided to leave. Understandable.
