Vikings Draft Info for the 2025 NFL Draft
Question #1 — How Many Picks Do the Vikings Have Holstered?

A good place to start.
General manger Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is currently working with four drafts picks. There’s No. 24 — a 1st — the Vikings’ most valuable pick and the one assigned to them based off their regular season record and playoff loss. There’s then No. 97 (a 3rd) that arrived from the compensatory system, No. 139 (a 5th) that arrived as part of the Za’Darius Smith trade with Cleveland, and No. 187 (a 6th) that arrives as part of the Jordan Mason trade with the 49ers. Get some more information of the Vikings’ website.
Many prophets, prognosticators, and purple fans expect the pick total to get bumped up, likely due to a trade down (or two). Essentially, Adofo-Mensah could exchange a single valuable pick — such as No. 24 — for two or three less valuable picks that (combined) equal or surpass the value of the pick being sent away.
Read a piece on PurplePTSD to get a sense of what’s realistic for a trade return. The past two NFL drafts have featured the team owning No. 24 trading back, so there are some historical examples that help to get us properly calibrated.
Question #2 — When Does the Action Get Started?

Right, good question.
Per the NFL’s website, festivities get going at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday night. Friday night’s portion gets going at 6 p.m. CT and the Saturday portion of things takes liftoff at 11 a.m. CT.
So, put on a pot of coffee and prepare for a late night on Thursday and Friday. Plan on skipping your afternoon nap on Saturday.
Question #3 — Where Can I Find Information on Past Vikings Drafts?

We here at PurplePTSD aspire to be helpful, at least from time to time. Consider a humble offering that will keep you informed on recent Vikings draft history:
- Every One of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s Draft Picks

Need more information? Well, seems as though there’s no pleasing you. Consider a humble offering from Pro Football Reference, a spot that has the Vikings’ complete draft history.
Question #4 — What Positions are Going to Get Attention from the Vikings?

Truth be told, no one knows for certain who is going to get picked. Give Kwesi Adofo-Mensah some truth serum and even he would admit that there’s uncertainty going into the draft. In fact, he would probably say as much without the aid of truth serum, openly acknowledging that he’s moving into an uncertain future (prompting the team’s many simulations).
Nevertheless, educated guesses can be made.
A lot of folks see corner as an ongoing need (I happen to agree). Some think that drafting a safety high makes sense — read why the strategy isn’t doomed — while others are looking toward guard, defensive tackle, or possibly even tight end (the roster has just a pair at present). Scooping up a running back at some point seems wise given the depth of talent, at least per the draft analysts.
Elsewhere, I’ve argued for the possibility of picking up a linebacker early — provided the player is special — but that’s a minority opinion.
Question #5 — Got Some Reading I Can Do While Waiting?
