At long last, the 2024 NFL Draft is coming to the fore. Are some Vikings draft resources in order?

An awful lot of digital ink has been spilled covering how Minnesota could navigate the event, especially after Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s eyebrow-raising move for Houston’s 1st. The Texans, of course, weren’t passive with the draft capital they picked up. Nick Caserio used one of Minnesota’s 2nd-round selections to bring Stefon Diggs to Texas. So, things have already been eventful and the event isn’t even here.

But, of course, the fireworks are just getting started.

The Minnesota Vikings are sitting on nine draft choices. First up is No. 11, and then No. 23, and then … No. 108. The chasm between the picks is going to make Day 2 of the draft difficult; a lot of tremendous talent is going to fly off the board before Adofo-Mensah steps up to the podium (so to speak). What else can we expect?

First up, the basics.

In all likelihood, the pick total is going to change before it’s all said and done. The Vikings’ GM has a reputation to live up to as one of the NFL’s preeminent traders.

His debut draft in 2022 involved ten selections alongside six trades; his encore draft in 2023 involved six selections alongside three trades. What’s in store for his third kick at the can?

The consensus, at least from the outside looking in, is that Minnesota is going to aggressively jump up the board (Rick Spielman thinks the Vikings must move up but Kwesi Adofo-Mensah disagrees). Doing so would allow them to shoot their shot with one of this year’s promising passers. Kirk Cousins is now a Falcon and Sam Darnold has been brought in as a bridge option with some upside. Tossing a youngster into the mix makes a lot of sense.

Within all of this discussion, we’re omitting something obvious: Josh Frey — the site’s managing editor — is the draft sheriff in this town.

Mr. Frey has been hard of work amping up the draft coverage on the site for the past several months. One of his top projects has been his Draft Thermometer series. There are a variety of player profiles included (most of them done by Frey), offering a broad range from Arnold to Williams.

More recently, Frey even released his board of top prospects. Consider his top 50 players to get a clearer sense of the draft’s best players.

The draft coverage has spilled into all kinds of other conversations, news, analysis, and rumors, so a further look around the site is sure to yield more draft content.

The 2024 NFL Draft is taking place in Detroit, Michigan. On Thursday, April 25th, the event will get started with the Chicago Bears as the proud owner of pick No. 1. Saturday, April 27th is when things will wrap up.

Afterwards, Adofo-Mensah likely will be aggressive in adding another batch of upside UDFAs. PurplePTSD will be offering coverage throughout the whole thing.
