Another Notable Vikings Injury Occurred in Week 17
The biggest trend of the 2023 season for the Minnesota Vikings has been injuries up and down their roster.
The timeline of Minnesota’s biggest injuries began all the way back in training camp when James Lynch tore his ACL, thus ending his year before it could begin. Since then, the Vikings have been forced to navigate injuries to many of their starters, and once again, a notable Vikings injury occurred in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers.
Yet Another Notable Vikings Injury
That injury was to right guard Ed Ingram, who left on Sunday night with a shoulder injury. He was replaced by Blake Brandel on the offensive line and was ruled questionable to return but never made it back into the game.
Ingram was selected by the Vikings in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he started every game of his rookie season at the right guard spot.
However, injuries have plagued the young offensive lineman in recent weeks. Prior to leaving this weekend’s game, Ingram was also ruled out of Minnesota’s Week 14 game against the Las Vegas Raiders because of a hip injury.
Kevin O’Connell didn’t have much of an update on the guard’s status following the game, telling reporters that he would “keep you guys posted on where Ed is at.”
Ingram has taken positive steps at right guard during his second season after being the subject of much scrutiny in his rookie year, particularly as a pass protector. However, Sunday night was one of his worst showings of the season.
PFF gave Ingram an abysmal pass-blocking grade of 19.5 and blamed him for four of the pressures given up during the game.
We’ll see throughout the week about Ingram’s status for what will likely be the final game of the season for the Vikings when they take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Week 18.
Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 12 PM Central on Sunday, January 7th.
