Last offseason, Kirk Cousins made many new fans through his role in Netflix’s docu-series, Quarterback.

Coming off the success of last year’s series, the media giant is set to release a brand new series this year. Justin Jefferson may already have plenty of fans across the NFL, but he is set to become the latest Vikings’ Netflix star by taking part in this new series, aptly called Receiver.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted in regard to the news, “Last summer: Quarterback. This summer? Receiver. Netflix announced its new sports series – “Receiver” – featuring Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Via NFL Films, Omaha Productions & 2PM Productions, Receiver debuts this summer.”

Since being selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Vikings, Jefferson has done nothing but exceed expectations and re-write record books along the way. Over his first four seasons, the receiver has recorded 392 receptions for 5899 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Through a player’s first four years in the NFL, Jefferson ranks fourth in receptions, first in receiving yards, and first in receiving yards per game by more than a full yard. All this despite the fact that he missed seven games during the 2023 season with a hamstring injury, and he also began his career as Minnesota’s WR3 and didn’t make his first start until Week 3 of his rookie season.

Jefferson has more than delivered on the field, and the series inevitably will allow Vikings fans to relive some of his greatest moments over the past couple years. However, there likely will be plenty to watch of Jefferson’s off the field life as well.

The process of Jefferson’s injury recovery likely will be a big part of the series, similarly to how Patrick Mahomes’ grit to play through his ankle sprain and recovery during the playoffs got plenty of spotlight during Quarterback.

Additionally, Jefferson is yet to sign a new contract extension with the Vikings despite 2024 being the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. The series may explore the receiver’s thought process as he contemplates whether to sign a new deal with the team.

Overall, Quarterback proved to be a very entertaining and insightful look into the day-to-day life of an NFL quarterback. Hopefully, Receiver can follow suit with Jefferson and some of the other top talents at the wide receiver position.

A release date for the series is yet to be announced.
