If you haven’t been getting enough Kirk Cousins on Sunday, then we’ve got some good news for you.

A soon-to-be released series on Netflix – the aptly-named Quarterback – features Cousins as one of the titular players. He accompanies Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota as the others being considered in the show.

The streaming behemoth released the promo trailer earlier in the day. Check it out:

One of the key features of the 2.5 minute clip is the bone-crushing hits. That’s something we’ve been discussing on PurplePTSD. Last year, the Vikings’ QB took a whopping 46 sacks, a number that must decrease in the upcoming season. The Cousins clobbering can’t continue.

Protecting #8 needs to be among the team’s top priorities going into 2023 since a comfortable Cousins is a competent Cousins.

The video also features some mention of the Kirko Chainz phenomenon and the QB’s usual “dad style.” The juxtaposition between those two identities – massive bling around his neck, beige khakis around his waist – is what made the several-week dalliance between the two personas so entertaining for so many people.

Cousins, never one to shy away from the spotlight, made sure to promote the video on Twitter: “On Quarterback, the new series from @netflix streaming July 12, you’ll get the most exclusive access to what it takes to be a QB in this league.” The team’s social media shared the promo video alongside a “Frick yeah!”

Throughout the offseason, the Vikings’ ownership, general manager, and head coach have all expressed their excitement about what Kirk Cousins can accomplish in his second second season within the system. That excitement stands at odds with the reluctance to sign him to a deal beyond the upcoming season.

Or, at least, reluctance so far. An extension could be reached at any time.

In 2022, Cousins threw for 29 TDs and 14 INTs. His 8 game-winning drives were stellar but his decision on that playoff 4th & 8 certainly wasn’t. He’ll be hoping to keep overcoming the doubt about him not being a winner when the Buccaneers arrive in Week 1.

In the meantime, fans get the chance to see him on their screens when they turn on Netflix in the middle of July.
