Kirk Cousins Takes Over Social Media Again
Despite often wearing the persona of a “goofy dad”, Kirk Cousins often has found a way to put himself in the social media spotlight over the past few years.
Between recent theatrics regarding his newfound love for chains, his Netflix stardom, and his legendary entrance into U.S. Bank Stadium prior to Minnesota’s Week 17 game this past season, Cousins has had a knack for becoming a trending personality amongst NFL fans.
This week has once again seen Cousins take over social media for two completely different reasons.
Kirk Cousins Takes Over Social Media Again
The first Cousins item involves a pair of videos featuring the QB throwing passes on a tennis court. Take a look:
The reasoning behind these videos is rather obvious. Cousins, who will turn 36 years old in August, is coming off a torn Achilles. The injury occurred back in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers as Cousins was playing some of the best football of his career.
As a result, it makes sense for Cousins to release these videos now. The legal tampering period for NFL free agency is right around two weeks away, and at that point, Cousins can begin discussing potential contracts with teams other than the Vikings. The quarterback is showcasing to teams around the league (including the Vikings) that he is progressing well in his injury recovery.
The second item on the list will bring more light-hearted laughs, but it feels just as strategic. The day after he posted the throwing videos, Cousins posted a photo of himself to his Instagram account, donning a golden grill over his teeth.
“If you haven’t yet found a Grillz-guy, check out Dr. Lebster,” Cousins wrote in the caption, “5/5 stars! He doesn’t take Kohl’s Cash, but he does great work. I know @jjettas2 approves.”
The Vikings star receiver sure did approve, commenting “Next we got to get u some diamond ones” alongside a few laughing emojis. RBs Alexander Mattison and Cam Akers also commented their approval on the post.
Ever since the conclusion of Minnesota’s Thanksgiving game against the New England Patriots in 2022, Cousins and Justin Jefferson have had a running joke that the QB needs to get some “grillz” in his mouth. Well, conveniently, that seems to have come to fruition precisely as both players are trying to negotiate lucrative contracts to remain in Minnesota for the long-term.
Coincidence? I think not.
