The on-field performances at the NFL Combine continued on Friday.

After the defensive linemen and linebackers took the field on Thursday, the Friday drills showcased the defensive backs and tight ends. Here is a look at four winners from the second day of the combine. All measurements were found via NFL.com.

Quinyon Mitchell has already shown off some ridiculous production over his collegiate career at Toledo. He recorded 37 passes defended and six interceptions over the past two seasons, but some wondered if he would be able to hang around with the top competition in football because of his small school background.

Well, after a dominant Senior Bowl performance back in early February, Mitchell now has a very impressive showing at the combine to his name. Mitchell ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash of the first two days, clocking a 4.33. This past month has solidified his status near the top of the draft class.

CB Decamerion Robinson, Mississippi State

Decamerion Robinson has been a starting piece of the Mississippi State defense for the past two seasons, utilizing his length to become a great coverage player downfield. After a 2023 season in which he recorded 79 tackles, a sack, and seven passes defended, Robinson declared for the NFL Draft.

The cornerback’s performance at the combine should help ensure that he reaches his dream of being selected in the draft. Robinson recorded the third-fastest 40-yard dash at 4.34 seconds, second-fastest 10-yard split, and solid performances in each of the vertical (35″) and broad jump (10’8″).

TE Theo Johnson, Penn State

Penn State tight end Theo Johnson (84) participates in team warmups before a NCAA football game against Massachusetts Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, in State College, Pa.

It was a dominant showing for Theo Johnson on Friday. The Penn State product put together an elite outing by recording the second-fastest 40-yard dash among the tight ends, tied for the fastest 10-yard split, the second-highest vertical, the second-furthest broad jump, and led the way in the 20-yard shuttle.

Johnson proved that elite athletic ability all while measuring in at a very sturdy 6’6″ and 259 pounds. The tight end is a very strong blocking presence at the position while also catching 34 passes for 341 yards and seven touchdowns this past season. His testing should ensure that he is drafted amongst the top of this year’s tight end class.

TE Ben Sinnott, Kansas State

It’s not every day that a tight end hits 40 inches on a vertical, but Ben Sinnott did exactly that on Friday while also edging out Johnson in the broad jump by an inch. Sinnott is not quite as long as Johnson, but he packed 250 pounds onto his 6’4″ frame going into the event.

Sinnott was a key part of Kansas State’s passing offense over the past two seasons, totaling 80 receptions for 1123 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Wildcats since 2022.
