With college all-star games and the NFL Combine officially in the rearview mirror, the 2024 NFL Draft is right around the corner.

As a result, NFL mock drafts are coming in faster with more hot takes than ever before. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network released his third mock draft of the offseason this week, and Jeremiah admitted that he chose to get chaotic for this mock.

The analyst tweeted on Tuesday along with a link to the article, “I chose chaos.”

Jeremiah has three quarterbacks going in the first three picks, but that didn’t stop him from sending Minnesota up the board for their own QB. The Vikings snatched the fourth overall pick from the Arizona Cardinals, sending both Nos. 11 and 23 to the desert, and Minnesota selects QB J.J. McCarthy. Here is Jeremiah’s reasoning behind the pick and trade:

“Now the fun really begins. After their recent trade with the Texans, it seems the Vikings are situated to aggressively move up to draft Kirk Cousins’ replacement. The Cardinals trade down, bypassing a chance to pick the first receiver off the board, but they address the position later in Round 1.”

McCarthy is coming off a national championship run with the Michigan Wolverines in which he completed 72.3% of his passes for 2991 yards, 22 TDs and four interceptions. During his two-year starting career at Michigan, the Wolverines went a combined 28-1 with their only loss coming against TCU in the College Football Playoff during the 2022 season.

With Cousins leaving the Vikings, the QB position is a very real need for Minnesota, and they very well could utilize their newly acquired 23rd overall pick in order to create a trade package and move up for McCarthy or one of the other top prospects at the position.

With Arizona’s freshly acquired 11th and 23rd overall picks, Jeremiah has the Cardinals selecting EDGE Jared Verse and WR Brian Thomas.

However, Jeremiah’s mock draft wackiness hardly stops there. One pick later, the analyst has the New York Jets trading up with the Los Angeles Chargers in order to select WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

Again, this would be a wild turn of events, but it is also very possible. The Jets need to find another strong receiver for Aaron Rodgers to throw to. A combination of two former Ohio State receivers in Garrett Wilson and Harrison would be a formidable duo.

Further down the board, the Las Vegas Raiders became the fifth team to select a quarterback when they snatched Washington QB Michael Penix with the 13th overall pick.

Indeed, it’s a very chaotic mock draft, but these scenarios could certainly all play out. We’ll find out on April 25th when the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft officially begins.
