Vikings Podcast: Anticipating the Cuts for the Purple & Gold
One of the craziest times on the NFL calendar is finally upon us. In the latest episode of Notes from the North — a humble Vikings podcast — Sizzlin’ Sam and I offer a brief couple thoughts on the final preseason game before contemplating the cuts.
Sizzlin’ Sam, never one to offer too many words, had this to say: “On this week’s episode of Notes from the North, Kyle and Sam review the week and the final preseason game before moving into what’s to come over the next 24 hours. They get into trades, possible surprises, and realizing it’s less than 2 weeks until the real football begins.”

Jaren Hall did plenty of good things in the team’s final preseason game.
The rookie demonstrated pretty good poise, moving through his progressions with some calm while displaying some great accuracy on several throws. He isn’t ready to start in Week 1 but that’s not the point. Kirk Cousins is the QB1 until told otherwise. In the meantime, Hall gets to work toward becoming a strong backup QB while potentially becoming more in time.
Unless something totally unforeseen happens, Hall is going to be on the final roster.
The Vikings have begun trimming the roster, saying goodbye to 15 players on Monday afternoon. Minnesota has moved on from these players (courtesy of Josh Frey’s piece):

Partner those subtractions with the Vederian Lowe trade and Minnesota is getting much closer to the 53-man roster.
