The Complete Vikings Depth Chart — Bye Week Edition, 2023
The bye arrived just in the nick of time.
A banged up team, the Vikings have been working through an unusually high amount of high-impact injuries. Seeing players head toward the infirmary is always discouraging, but it’s especially so when the players in question are playing the game’s most prominent positions — QB, WR, EDGE, OT, CB. The Vikings depth chart from previous weeks has reflected these issues.
Thankfully, things are looking a bit better on the health front.
Justin Jefferson will be back in time for Week 14, opening optimism for more vertical passing for Kevin O’Connell’s crew. Meanwhile, the QB position as a whole is looking much better. Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall are back and healthy, giving the Vikings some options when it comes to the game’s most important position. One also thinks of T.J. Hockenson. True, the TE wasn’t missing time, but he was playing hurt. Some rest will surely help him.
Does a full array of offensive weapons give Minnesota enough to get back into respectability on offense?
Plus, Akayleb Evans looks like he should return and there could even be a more prominent role for sophomore linebacker Brian Asamoah. Marcus Davenport isn’t expected back soon, but the hope is still that the talented pass rusher will get back into the mix before the season ends.
Generally speaking, these depth charts take a few moments to consider the upcoming game. The bye week, of course, means that there isn’t a game. Instead, allow me to wade into dangerous waters: predicting some roster battles.
Most prominently, I think there will be a swap at QB, but keep reading to see how I see things going into next Sunday’s Raiders showdown.
