Vikings Podcast: Finding Some Preseason Positives

Much of the Vikings news today has focused on the decision to bring Nick Mullens to town. The 27-year-old quarterback will be adding to the QB competition. Kellen Mond and/or Sean Mannion need to keep elevating to win the backup QB job.

Trade news aside, there was a recent Vikings game, as the podcast discusses.

Forced to guess, I’d say a lot of Vikings fans were somewhat underwhelmed by Saturday night’s game. The team put together a mere 7 points, an indicator that the offense struggled to find a rhythm. As we discuss on the podcast, there was a large discrepancy for time of possession and then some issues converting on third down.

One of the main positives of the game rested in the performance of several of the defenders. A lot of the young guys made some strong plays, and then T.Y. McGill was disruptive. Keep in mind that this game featured the Vikings keeping most of their best players out of the lineup.

We consider the positives and negatives before offering a few quick thoughts on the Minnesota Wild prospects at the World Juniors.

Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.

Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.

That came after Gibson put the ball on the turf six times as a sophomore in 2021. It’s just not going to cut it for a staff led by the old-school Ron Rivera. In Washington’s second preseason game, Gibson ran the ball a mere two times for three yards. He was behind rookie third-round pick Brian Robinson on the depth chart. With third-down back J.D. McKissic on the Commanders’ roster, there’s a chance Gibson will open Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars No. 3 on Washington’s depth chart.” uploaddate=”2022-08-22″ thumbnailurl=”https://cdn.brid.tv/live/partners/17660/snapshot/1080765_sd_1661183209.jpg” contentUrl=”https://cdn.brid.tv/live/partners/17660/streaming/1080765/1080765.m3u8″ width=”16″ height=”9″]
