Vikings Rookie CB on Track to Return to the Field on Sunday
After missing four consecutive games, it seems that rookie CB Andrew Booth is on track to return to the field on Sunday in Miami. Booth has sat out with a quad injury that he suffered in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers. He played two snaps on special teams prior to the injury.
Booth returned to practice in a limited fashion last week prior to Minnesota’s game against the Chicago Bears. However, he was held out as a true game-time decision in the hopes of playing it safe with the rookie. That appears to have worked out as Booth practiced in full on Wednesday afternoon.
Booth was selected in the second round with the No. 42 overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. He played his college ball with the Clemson Tigers from 2019-21 and recorded nine pass defenses and five INTs.
As the Kevin Seifert tweet above explains, Booth’s return to the Vikings secondary could be important as Akayleb Evans recovers from a concussion. Following the situation surrounding Tua Tagovailoa, the NFL has revamped their concussion protocol, and it could cause the Vikings to proceed with extra caution surrounding their fourth-round pick CB.

Vikings fans have not had the pleasure of seeing Booth play a defensive snap in the regular season, but they got a little taste of what he can do this preseason. The rookie started two of the games and recorded five total tackles.
Against a Miami offense that starts a seventh-round rookie QB, but also features one of the most talented wide receiver duos in the league, this could be a very interesting game for the rookie to take his first defensive snaps in. Surely, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will prove to be a challenge for the Vikings secondary, but the question remains whether or not Skylar Thompson will be able to consistently get them the ball.
There’s still a couple days of practice remaining this week, but this is certainly a good sign for the Vikings second-round pick. We may soon get to see what the Vikings truly have with him.
