The Great ‘98 Season Rewatch: Week 9 vs. the Bucs

It’s been a few days since our last 1998 Vikings season “game by game” rewatch, as everyone is gearing up for the excitement that should be this weeks NFL Draft.

I thought I’d slip one (or two) more games in before then, to get your minds off of what the Vikings are going to do Thursday night.

If you recall, we last watched the Week 5 extravaganzer that was Monday Night Football against the Packers, the game in which Randy Moss was introduced to a nation of thirsty football fans of other teams.

Week 6 was a Bye in 1998, and the Vikings came out of that in week 7 facing the Washington Redskins. There isn’t a full upload of that game, so here are some highlights:

The same goes, unfortunately for Week 8. The Vikings faced the Barry Sanders lead Detroit Lions in that game, and having won both post Bye games, were set to face another NFC “Central” foe in the Tampa Bay Bucs (a team that the Vikings dismantled earlier in the season).

Here are the Lions highlights, note how amazing Sanders was. Best RB ever.

Finally, the main event!

The Vikings went on the road to face the Bucs, who were a few seasons away from the dominating defense they had in the early 00’s. If you’re my age you’ll remember this game almost as much as the Week 5 MNF Packers game (albeit for nearly opposite reasons).

All he does is catch Touchdowns. And aid and abet rookie felonies?
