Some Promising News Regarding Christian Darrisaw

The Vikings offensive line looked fixed following the 2021 draft. After Rick Spielman traded down from No. 14 to No. 23 and still landed Virginia Tech star, Christian Darrisaw, fans were ecstatic. However, that excitement has been dampened in recent months as both Darrisaw and third-round pick, Wyatt Davis, struggled with injuries.
While Davis has gotten back on track for the most part and showed promising signs in preseason, we are still waiting on Darrisaw to even return to practice. On Monday, we finally got some news regarding the rookie left tackle from coach Mike Zimmer, and it is at least somewhat good.
Zimmer said that Darrisaw will return to practice on Wednesday to do some individual work. It seems that Darrisaw is still very much in the preliminary stages of his return as he has practiced just four times since being drafted by Minnesota. Zimmer stressed this in his presser, saying that Darrisaw “isn’t in terrific football shape”.
However, the fact that Darrisaw has not been placed on IR gives the impression that Minnesota expects the rookie back in the starting lineup soon. Obviously, the Vikings are playing it safe with a highly valued prospect, and we will probably get a better idea of an actual timeline after Wednesday. Not only will Darrisaw return to the field, but the Vikings will release their first injury report that day. Until then seems pretty certain that Rashod Hill will get the nod at least for the season opener in Cincinnati, but we may be getting close to seeing the Vikings o-line back at full strength.
