Q: Did Kwesi Adofo-Mensah take a shot a Rick Spielman’s habit of trading for late-round picks?

A: Sort of. He explained no amount of 7th-Rounders is worth a 1st-Rounder at a press conference on Tuesday.

Coincidentally, Rick Spielman used to stockpile 6th and 7th-Round draft capital like Halloween candy. And Adofo-Mensah is a smart man, so he knew what he was saying.

He also wasn’t rude about it. If anything, this statement was an effectuation of change — not an insult.

Here’s the quote. You decide.

Q: Is it true the Vikings announced they wouldn’t draft a wide receiver on Thursday night?

Jaguars #12, Dede Westbrook gets instructions from wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell during Tuesday morning’s minicamp session. A: No, but Adofo-Mensah did say his wide receiver coach, Keenan McCardell, isn’t banging the table for one.

McCardell encouraged the team to draft a non-WR in an effort to stress teamwork above all else. Adofo-Mensah could still reverse course and draft a Garrett Wilson or Drake London if those are the best players available on the board.

This is the context:

Q: It feels like Stingley to the Vikings is truly a coin flip. Is it breaking either way with the draft just days away?

Derek Stingley Jr at the LSU Pro Day. Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Derk Stingley Jr Lsu Pro Day 4222

A: You are correct. It is a coin flip. In the last few days before the draft, there is a subtle return-to-hope by pundits that the LSU alumnus will be on the board at #12.

But we don’t believe Stingley Jr. will be there and thus predict Trent McDuffie or Andrew Booth Jr. will end up with the Vikings. Stingley Jr. is too good, and his draft stock soared too much this month.

But if he is there at #12, the Vikings will select him.

But don’t bet on it.
