The NFC North saw three interesting games this weekend, including an intra-divisional matchup between Chicago and Detroit. Meanwhile, Green Bay and Minnesota found themselves in matchups with 2020 playoff teams out of the AFC North. For those of you trying to keep up with the division, here is a quick recap of the goings-on for all four teams in week 4.

Chicago Evens Their Record

The Bears dominated against Detroit early on. Justin Fields made some nice throws down the field, while David Montgomery continued his impressive start on the ground.

Montgomery’s 106-yard performance was key to Chicago’s win, but he suffered a scare late in the game. The back left with a knee injury, but luckily, the Bears do not believe any significant damage occurred. Unless further testing proves otherwise, it looks as if Montgomery just as a hyperextended knee.

Detroit Loses Game and Pass Rusher

The Lions fell to 0-4 after a 24-14 loss against the Bears. However, that’s not the biggest storyline coming out of Detroit on Monday. It instead revolves around LB Romeo Okwara.

Okwara left Sunday’s game with a devastating injury that will end his season: a torn Achilles. As one of the only bright spots on Detroit’s defense this year, the injury just puts the Lions unit even further in the cellar of the NFL.

Green Bay Extends Winning Streak

The Packers hosted a stumbling Pittsburgh Steelers team, and they handed them their third straight loss. Meanwhile, Green Bay extended their winning streak to three and continue holding the top spot in the division.

Despite a 27-17 victory, moods are tempered by another injury to a defense that lost Za’Darius Smith earlier in the week and Preston Smith early in the game. This latest, and potentially serious injury, is to star CB Jaire Alexander. If the Packers defense cannot get healthy soon, the division looks up for grabs.

Another Frustrating Loss for the Vikings

After seemingly righting the ship last week against Seattle, the Vikings fell for the third time in four games against Cleveland. Despite a strong effort by the defense, the offense just did not get anything going after the opening TD drive.

Kirk Cousins struggled against Cleveland’s secondary, and for the first time this year, Adam Thielen was held scoreless. To make matters worse, Cam Dantzler has been placed on the COVID-19 list as of Monday afternoon.
