Mike Tice on Justin Jefferson/Randy Moss comparisons [Exclusive]

Moss was mooning the Packers years before he actually mooned them

If you hadn’t heard we landed our very first radio show on KDLM Radio in Detroit Lakes called ‘The VikingsTerritory Breakdown’ (we also post it everywhere as a podcast). The show is the Joes (me and Oberle) of ‘Morning Joes’, former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice, and Wobby, to boot!

We had our second episode last night with coach Tice in Canton (working on his amazing new project, the NFL Alumni Academy (which I’m writing an article about, but you can hear more about that on the episode as well)) and it appears that the show made some news (outside of me spamming it everywhere).

Trevor Squire of Heavy.com wrote an article about one of the questions we had for Tice as the man who coached Randy Moss. You guessed it! Whether Randy would be my friend.

Or here on Zone Coverage:

I’m joking.

I asked about the Justin Jefferson – Randy Moss comparisons. To which Tice responded:

“Randy Moss was a touchdown magnet. Jefferson doesn’t have quite those types of numbers with the touchdowns. The elite Hall of Famers score a lot of touchdowns,” Tice said. “Jefferson is off to a great start but we’d like to see more touchdowns.”

You can listen to the full show on every podcast platform HERE.

I then brought up the main variable I use when people compare Moss to his only competition as the GOAT. How Jerry Rice was the product of a new system (The West Coast Offense) and how Moss altered the game in a different way.

You can listen to the question/answer here…

Tice said:

“You’re not going to see the Green Bay Packers put a linebacker over on that side and play over the top of him with a corner like they did with Randy Moss… You’re not going to see that with Justin Jefferson just yet,” Tice said. “Randy Moss changed the game and made the Green Bay Packers… they started drafting taller cornerbacks and bigger players to find some way to slow down Randy Moss.”

You can find ‘The VikingsTerritory Breakdown’ on KDLM Radio (and KDLMradio.com) each Wednesday @ 7pm, as well as our network Wednesday’s around 5pm!
