After a week of upsets throughout the NFL, and some strange fantasy outcomes around the league, you may be questioning where your team stands, and where you can make improvements for a final push to the playoffs.

In this week’s waiver wire watch, we’ll dig deep into the annals of the player list, and hopefully you find at least a short-term solution to whatever position you are struggling at.

Damien Harris- Patriots RB (49.9%)

Harris broke out as New England’s lead rusher against Buffalo, totaling 102 yards and a touchdown. There is one key reason to his success, and that is Cam Newton.

With Newton  finally getting back to his old self after his COVID-19 diagnosis, he re-emerged as a rushing threat against the Bills with 54 yards and a touchdown. Undoubtedly, Buffalo’s concern of his abilities led to some open lanes for Harris, and I expect that to continue as Newton regains more of his strength in the coming weeks.

With an extremely favorable matchup with the Jets, Harris should be on your watch as a high-end flex player this week.

Jake Luton- Jaguars QB (1.2%)

Gardner Minshew is out for the foreseeable future after it was discovered that he had multiple injuries in his thumb. That leaves rookie Jake Luton to take his place this upcoming Sunday against Houston.

Luckily, Luton got an extra week of work due to Jacksonville coming off a bye, and he will be much more prepared to play than a backup normally would be. It is also a prime opportunity for the rookie to make some noise in the fantasy department.

He has been scouted to have a much better deep ball than his teammate Minshew, and with a matchup against the Texans defense, he could be in line to use that deep ball to his advantage. If your QB is on bye this week, consider giving Luton a shot.

Marvin Hall-Lions WR (0.3%)

With Kenny Golladay out last week, Hall racked up over 100 receiving yards in his place on seven targets. Golladay seems unlikely to play again in week nine, which opens the door for another big showing from Hall. Especially against a porous Minnesota defense, some big yardage numbers and a score seem very possible for the receiver.

Especially with Antonio Brown looking like he will take away targets from Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, as well as Cooper Kupp, Jarvis Landry, Tyler Boyd, and A.J. Green being on bye, look at Hall as a flex option this week.
