Frey’s Fantasy Focus: Week 13 Waiver Wire

This is the final week of byes, and unless you happen to have any Carolina or Tampa Bay players, there shouldn’t be too much to worry about in that regard. However, COVID continues to be a major problem throughout the league.

Baltimore will have plenty of players out again this week, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it came out that a few more Steelers have to miss their game as well. Additionally, Indianapolis’ defense will be missing DeForest Buckner once again, which leaves that unit questionable against Deshaun Watson. Finally, injuries are a factor for both Toddy Gurley and Julio Jones this week.

Frank Gore- Jets RB (30.2%)

Not only is it uncommon that I’d suggest you put a Jets player in your fantasy lineup, it’s even less common that a 37-year-old running back can be argued as a viable candidate. Well, 2020 is not over yet, and so here we are.

Frank Gore earned himself a combined 38 touches over the past two weeks. Along with that, La’Mical Perine has gone on IR which means the veteran should continue to earn a large chunk of the workload. Combine the workload with New York’s opponent, Las Vegas, and Gore should have a day that earns him a flex spot, especially if you have one of JK Dobbins, Todd Gurley, or James Conner.

Vikings D/ST (46.4%)

Yes, it may be worth snatching the Vikings defense this week. Since their week one debacle against Green Bay, this unit has forced at least one turnover in every game. They should also be able to exploit Jacksonville’s tackles this week in the pass rush, which will either result in sacks or rushed throws from Mike Glennon.

Admittedly, Glennon looked decent last week in his 2020 debut. Outside of James Robinson though, Jacksonville’s offense has been a dud for most of the year, so this D/ST should be able to put up a starter-worthy point total. With the COVID issues revolving around Baltimore, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh, Minnesota would be worth adding to the roster.

T.Y. Hilton- Colts WR (43.1%)

T.Y. Hilton had one of his best games last week when Indianapolis was forced to pass due to the absence of Jonathan Taylor. Given the fact that this Texans defense is very lackluster, and Deshaun Watson is on the other sideline, this game could become highflying with lots of offense. In fact, since week three, only one opponent (Cleveland) has had fewer than 250 passing yards against Houston. Hilton should get some targets in this game, so he’s worth watching given Julio Jones’ injury.

Keke Coutee- Texans WR (0.9%)

With Will Fuller’s recent suspension, Kenny Stills being released, and Randall Cobb still on IR, SOMEBODY is going to have to catch passes in this Houston offense. Brandin Cooks definitely assumes WR1 duties in this offense now, but Coutee is suddenly vaulted to WR2. Deshaun Watson has not trusted his tight ends to handle passing duties for much of the season, and while that may have to change now, Coutee should see plenty of action this week.
