The Minnesota Vikings are looking forward to a very successful 2018 season. The expectations are high, and the amount of talent on this team could be the most impressive in the entire NFL. We all know Brian Robison has been a captain on this team for the last few years, but now that he is no longer with the team, a new player will have to take on that leadership role. Let’s see who the new captains are for the upcoming season.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins

New quarterback? New captain. His nickname is Captain Kirk, so why not give him the big C on his chest during his first year playing for the Vikings. Many players have bragged about how great of a leader Cousins is. He’s got a great demeanor about him, and he takes his job very seriously. I think this was a good choice. Let our new franchise quarterback lead this team.

Tight End Kyle Rudolph

Rudolph is very well respected within the Vikings locker room and in the community. He is a very active community member and he’s amazing guy on and off the field. No wonder why his teammates want him as a captain of this team.

LT Riley Reiff

Reiff is a very good player and a great guy off the field. He is no doubt the leader of the offensive line and he does his job very well. Oh, and did I forget to mention he has the job of protecting our $84M quarterback? He’s a great leader on the field and that’s why he’s a captain this year.

DE Everson Griffen

This man is an animal. He’s one of the best defensive ends in the entire league, and he is very vocal on and off the field. Before games his is always the one getting the team jacked up, and is also always the one pumping up the crowd on gameday. This was an easy choice. Griffen is a leader and he deserves to be a captain.

DT Linval Joseph

Linvallllll! Let’s just start off by saying Linval Joseph has been one of the best free agent signings Rick Spielman has accomplished in his tenure. He produces game after game, and he always seems to show up for the big games. Joseph may be a big guy on the field, but he is very genuine and is a very good locker room guy. I’m proud to say this guy is a captain to our favorite team in the NFL.

LB Anthony Barr

This one is interesting. Anthony Barr is in a contract year, and hasn’t signed an extension yet. For all we know, this could be Barr’s final year on the team. I think this was based purely off the way the players view Anthony Barr. He is very likable within the locker room. He is always joking around with other players, and he is the first one to celebrate with a teammate when they make a big play. Let’s hope Barr is here long term, because he is not only a great player, but also a great teammate as well.

Those are your six captains for the upcoming 2018 season. Let’s hope these guys lead us to the promise land. SKOL!
