This week, training camps got started across the NFL, including for the Minnesota Vikings, who had their veterans report to camp on Tuesday.

While this is an exciting time for both teams and fans, the unfortunate reality is that injuries are also a part of football, and we saw a couple injuries send shockwaves across the NFL world on Thursday.

Joe Burrow has emerged as one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL over the past three seasons after being selected first overall by the Bengals in the 2020 Draft. On Thursday, the talented QB was carted off the field at Bengals practice. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Burrow suffered a calf strain, tweeting, “Bengals coach Zac Taylor tells reporters that QB Joe Burrow suffered a calf strain — which is much better news than several alternatives. Have to imagine this takes him off the field for the preseason. TBD on a timeframe.”

Behind Burrow, a pair of former Vikings quarterbacks are the backups in Cincinnati: Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning. The expectation is that we will see that duo a lot more in both camp and during the preseason as a result of this injury. Luckily, Burrow seems to have avoided a more serious injury, and hopefully he will be good to go once the regular season begins.

Jalen Ramsey Out 6-8 Weeks

This offseason, the Miami Dolphins made a huge trade to acquire CB Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams in an attempt to improve their secondary. However, it now appears that the team will have to wait some time before they see their new star cornerback take the field.

Multiple reports surfaced on Thursday that Ramsey suffered a knee injury at Dolphins practice on Thursday, and during the evening, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported that the Dolphins CB has suffered a meniscus injury.

Pelissero tweeted, “#Dolphins star CB Jalen Ramsey is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks because of a meniscus injury that will require surgery, per source. Doctors will determine whether to remove the meniscus or repair it, which would be a much longer recovery.”

If Ramsey were to miss the early portion of the regular season, it would be a huge blow to what looks to be a very promising Dolphins squad heading into 2023. This potentially puts more pressure on the shoulders of Tua Tagovailoa and the rest of the offense to carry the way while the CB heals up.
