Earlier this week, we received the encouraging news that Christian Darrisaw and Anthony Barr got some practice time. Unfortunately, neither are ready for game action, so they’ll be out in Week 1. It’s looking like Tyler Conklin, Dede Westbrook, Josh Metellus, and Alexander Mattison will all be available. This is especially good news for the offense since Conklin, Westbrook, and Mattison will be three key depth players.

On the Bengals’ side of things, Trae Waynes will be out. Life just got a little bit easier for Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.

Because Barr won’t be around to call the defensive plays, Nick Vigil will be in charge of the communication: “his purple helmet with white horns will include a green dot sticker, designating it as one equipped with a communications device that will allow him to hear calls from the sideline and relay them to teammates.”

Mike Zimmer praised Vigil: “He’s caught on fast and played well in the preseason. We all have to make sure that we tackle good and be good communicators. They give you a lot of formations and movements and things like that.”

On offense, Rashod Hill will get the start at LT. Expect Lil’Kub to help Hill by giving him TE blocking help and by ensuring that run game remains a top priority throughout the game.
