The Minnesota Vikings continue to wheel and deal in terms of the trade market in this NFL Draft. After a first round trade that moved them down from 12 to 32, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah again broke the cardinal rule of NFL trades by making a deal with the division rival Green Bay Packers. This trade gave them 53 and 59 while giving the Packers the 34th overall pick.

However, Kwesi decided that one trade on night two was not enough.

The new Vikings GM decided to dip back into the trade market by sending the newly acquired 53rd pick to the Indianapolis Colts as well as Nos. 77 and 192 while they received Nos. 42 and 122. With that 42nd overall pick, the Vikings selected Clemson CB Andrew Booth Jr.

Now, prior to suffering a hernia during the draft process, Booth was a guy that would not have left people scratching their heads if the Vikings selected him at 12, let alone in the first round. He is an extremely efficient player in terms of his movements, and his athleticism is among the best in this class.

This is important because assuming he recovers from his hernia, the Vikings got their starting caliber CB, except they got it 30 picks later than when we expected them to. Of course, some of the return pieces could have been a little bit better (a future first would have been nice from Detroit), and some big names were passed up on (Kyle Hamilton, Trent McDuffie). However, we have to trust the process for now. There is no reason to believe that Booth will not have success at the NFL level.

Minnesota also has picks remaining tonight at both 59 and 66. Plenty of talent remains on the board (Nakobe Dean and Skyy Moore have my eye), so perhaps we will see another move yet tonight. You can count on PurplePTSD to have the move covered, whether it is a trade or the next pick.
