Aaron Rodgers Gets Honest About His Future in Green Bay

Vikings fans will probably like this. As you have all probably seen by now, the Green Bay Packers lost in the NFC Division Round on Saturday night to the San Francisco 49ers. Both offenses struggled mightily in the cold weather, but after a blocked punt was returned for a touchdown, the Niners needed to just put one drive together. They did just that, and Robbie Gould hit a game-winning field goal to send San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game with a 13-10 victory.

Following the game, Aaron Rodgers spoke on his future with the Green Bay Packers, and it got brutally honest. He spoke on the incredible resiliency of his teammates this season, and the incredible returns of guys like Zadarius Smith to play on Saturday from serious injury.

However, it seems that things in Green Bay are just the same as they were last offseason: uncertain. Rodgers followed the compliments with an insistence that he did not want to play for a rebuild, saying:

“So many guys’ contracts are up or on the brink. Lot of decisions to be made. I don’t want to be a part of a rebuild if I’m going to keep playing.”

Essentially, this is a call to the Green Bay front office: pay up, or the QB is out of town. A Rodgers move would entirely change the landscape of the NFC North, but you’d have to think the Vikings are next in line. This not only changes the perspective of the Green Bay Packers, but it could also change how Minnesota approaches their offseason as well.
