The Vikings Apparently Only Have 1 of the Top 100 Players in the NFL

Say what you want about the Minnesota Vikings, but they have some good players on their football team.

Justin Jefferson, of course, is pretty unanimously one of the best American football players on the planet. Other great football players on the team include names like Christian Darrisaw, Jordan Addison, and Andrew Van Ginkel, among countless other high-quality role players all the way up and down the depth chart. Heck, the Vikings may even have the best kicker in the NFL in Will Reichard.

Still, with all of the players sprinkled around the Vikings, apparently they only have one singular player out of the Top 100 aroound the league signed to a contract.

Vikings Have Only 1 Player on Top 100 List, and the Name Isn’t Surprising

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports recently put together his own list of the Top 100 players in the NFL. Within that list, only a singular Vikings player can be found. Unsurprisingly, that player was WR Justin Jefferson.

He provided some reasoning for Jefferson as the 8th-overall best player in the National Football League:

He was hurt by poor quarterback play last year, but he remains the most talented receiver in the game. He had 84 catches and only two touchdowns last season. Kyler Murray should help his numbers this year.”

Our own Dustin Baker shared his take on the matter, providing a handful of snubs that were left off the list that play for the Minnesota Vikings. He listed Jordan Addison, Christian Darrisaw, and Brian O’Neill. In Baker’s opinion, O’Neill was the biggest snub, and he explained why:

If Prisco wholly snubbed anyone, it was O’Neill. The man never posts bad seasons, and if you polled players and coaches, O’Neill would probably make the cut in the Top 100. He’s also due for a contract extension this summer that will likely attach him to the Vikings for a few more years.”

While the Vikings don’t have many names that pop out to fans of other teams as “superstars”, they don’t need to worry too much about the public’s opinions on the individuals that make up the team. Surely, players appreciate the kind gesture, but they didn’t sign up for this life of football to appear on “Top 100 Players” lists that are made while nothing is going on during this offseason. They want Super Bowls.

Vikings That Could Crack Top 100 Lists Next Offseason

If the Vikings are to have a good season in 2026, there’s a decent chance they’ll have some more players show up on these kinds of lists next offseason.

A few of the names that come off of the top of the head other than Justin Jefferson again are Kyler Murray and Dallas Turner. If Kyler Murray can resurrect his career in Minnesota and put himself in MVP conversations like some are predicting, then he would make it quite impossible for list-makers to keep him off of them.

For Dallas Turner, if he is to make the leap that Vikings fans are hoping he does at starting edge rusher, then he could lay claim to one of the spots as well. Turner has some big cleats to fill, the ones left behind by Jonathan Greenard after he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
