A Vikings Mock if the Move is to Get Massive, Muscular, and Mean

The Minnesota Vikings aren’t known as the toughest kid in town. The current Vikings mock seeks to address the issue.

Some of the players on the roster are known for their ruggedness (RG Will Fries, TE Josh Oliver, RB Jordan Mason, and some others). Give the mean, competitive, and nasty players players some reinforcements with other mean, competitive, and nasty players. Shout out to ESPN for the mock machine. Note that the focus is the opening four selections.

A Vikings Mock to Bring in Muscle, Size, and Nastiness

1st Round, No. 18 — Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State

Ohio State Buckeyes defensive tackle Kayden McDonald (98) celebrates during the first half of the Big Ten Conference championship game against the Indiana Hoosiers at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Dec. 6, 2025.

Generally speaking, the Vikings opt for DTs who aren’t particularly large. Not so with Mr. McDonald.

The Ohio State defender comes in at 6’2″ and close to 330 pounds. Nobody on defense can match that size (though Taki Taimani offers roughly the same build). He would be the favorite to start alongside Jalen Redmond for Week 1.

2nd Round, No. 49 — Malachi Fields, WR, Notre Dame

Fields boasts something that resembles tight end size out at wide receiver. He brings back memories of N’Keal Harry, the Patriots 1st who was with the Vikings for a short period.

He’s 6’4″ and roughly 220 pounds. In theory, Fields will prove too large for corners to slow down and too fast to get covered by linebackers. Some of the league’s unique safety talent could hang, but he looks like a problem.

3rd Round, No. 82 — Sam Roush, TE, Stanford

Opting for a tight end in the 3rd isn’t the flashiest route, but the Vikings have quietly been digging into the TE position ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Roush would slot into the TE3 job for the upcoming season behind TE1 T.J. Hockenson and TE2 Josh Oliver.

He’s 6’6″ and flirts with 270 pounds. Minnesota could be cruising toward a season of much more 12 personnel: 1 runner, 2 tight ends, and 2 receivers. Dabbling in some 13 personnel — a trio of TEs — could further enhance the need for tight end talent.

3rd Round, No. 97 — LT Overton, EDGE, Alabama

Look for the Vikings to draft a minimum of one edge rusher, but possibly a pair. The EDGE4 spot needs some enhancement.

In Mr. Overton, the Vikings would be welcoming a defender who comes in at 6’3″ and 275 pounds. Note that players such as Dallas Turner and Andrew Van Ginkel come in closer to 240, so this is a defender with a larger build. His job wouldn’t be to scream off the edge to chase down QBs but, rather, to stack tackles in run defense.
