Vikings Evidently Have a Trade Asset

The NFL has gone crazy in the trading department so far this offseason, but the Vikings have not been involved in one in a while after several active years under Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. It’s generally been a quiet offseason for the purple squad.

Interim GM Rob Brzezinski has not made any big splashes, but given the age of the roster, he needs all the draft capital he can get his hands on. According to PFF’s John Kosko, sending away Jordan Addison is his best way to boost his draft arsenal.

The analyst picked every franchise’s top trade asset and Addison drew his attention. He wrote: “The Vikings don’t have many top-tier trade assets, but Addison stands out as a potential candidate. A former first-round pick, he has flashed early in his career but has yet to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season and struggled with drops in 2025.”

Most trade discussions have included Jonathan Greenard, the veteran edge defender, but moving wideout Addison has also been a popular trade idea in Skol Nation, not because of his on-field play but because of his off-field shenanigans.

Addison has already missed three games due to a suspension handed to him for his second car-related incident. A January trespassing charge has been dismissed, but his third time landing in the news for off-field issues has left a bad taste in the mouths of many Vikings fans.

Kosko added, “The talent is evident, and a contending team in need of a WR2 or WR3 could benefit from his skill set. With Minnesota needing to add depth on defense, moving Addison could bring back valuable assets to help address those areas.”

Addison has been an impactful player for the Vikings, who need pass-catchers to take the pressure off Justin Jefferson. He has done a fairly nice job in that area.

The 2023 pick has 2,499 scrimmage yards and 23 touchdowns on his NFL resume. After registering roughly 900 yards in each of his first two campaigns, his numbers dropped to 610 yards and only four scores in 2025.

The entire passing game was broken in 2025 because of the subpar quarterback play and it resulted in low production for Jefferson, Addison, and tight end T.J. Hockenson. The club hopes the passing attack can recover with Kyler Murray in the building.

According to a report from ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, the Vikings aren’t looking to trade Addison, but want to extend his contract instead.

The Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers 27-25.

He wrote last week, “Brzezinski said last month that he envisioned the Vikings as a franchise that looks to ‘draft and develop and to retain our core, and supplement in free agency.’ That served as a reminder that teams don’t just use cap space on free agency, but also — and often more importantly — on signing their existing players to contract extensions. Right tackle Brian O’Neill and receiver Jordan Addison are among the upcoming deals the Vikings have budgeted for.”

Addison is a homegrown talent who has become one of the premier WR2s in the NFL under Kevin O’Connell’s guidance. A bounce-back could certainly be in the cards for the dynamic Pitt and USC product.

The receiver is still only 24 years old. A trade would give the Vikings some extra draft capital, though the return might be underwhelming, as his new team would have to give him a lucrative extension. The expectation should be that Addison remains a Viking going forward.
