The View from VT: QB Plan Confirmed, Lions Land Former Viking, and Justin Herbert

Vikings Territory works in partnership with PurplePTSD, similarly doing their utmost to put forth excellent Minnesota Vikings content. As a result, we promote what they have to offer in βThe View from VT,β a weekly piece. Take a look at five of their articles from the past week.
The View from VT: January 24th, 2026
1) ESPN Confirms Vikings’ 2026 QB Plan: At the very least, there’s going to be an increase in competition. J.J. McCarthy isn’t going anywhere. What’s needed is someone who can function as both a QB1 and QB2, depending on how the competition shakes out. Might someone like Justin Fields make sense?

2) Lions Hire Former Vikings Coach to Run Offense: The Lions boast a ton of firepower. Starting off with all of Jahmyr Gibbs (elite), Amon-Ra St. Brown (elite), and Sam LaPorta (very good) is a nice spot to be. Can Jared Goff (good but not great) get the Lions to where Detroit wants to go?
3) Vikings Rumors Put Spotlight on Humongous QB Trade, Marcus Mariota, Justin Herbert: Somehow snagging Mr. Herbert would be an amazing addition for the Vikings. The great issue is that it’s not going to happen. Much more likely is Justin Fields, Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, or any number of other quarterback options.

4) Second Week of Vikings Offseason Delivered 4 Clear Signals: The coaching staff has been a focus. So, too, has the quarterback spot been a point of focus, as well. What else emerges? There’s going to be some money shuffling and there will need to be some moves in free agency.
5) Apparently, The Vikings Have Lost Confidence in Huge Lineman: A tough couple of seasons for the lineman. Walter Rouse has tremendous size and is still young. The issue is that Minnesota doesn’t appear to have much confidence in him. Seeing him traded out wouldn’t be shocking.
