The Vikings Predictions: Whiffing on Several, Nailing a Single

Tossing out some Vikings predictions almost inevitably leads to looking foolish, especially when the guesses get ultra specific.

Many onlookers expected the Vikings to put together a sizzling 2025 season. For the most part, the Vikings’ defense held up its end of the bargain. The same can’t be said of the offense. Consider how the predictions worked out from within the topsy-turvy ’25 regular season that finished off with a 9-8 record for Minnesota.

Reflecting on Vikings Predictions

Prediction #1 – Four UDFAs Make the Final Roster

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Max Brosmer (12), protected by offensive guard Joe Huber (60), passes during the third quarter of an NFL pre-season game against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Friday, Aug. 22, 2025.

Smashed this one, folks.

QB3 Max Brosmer made it. So did PR1/KR1 Myles Price. There was then the decision to hold onto TE3/4 Ben Yurosek, LG2/3 Joe Huber, LB4 Austin Keys, DT5 Elijah Williams, and EDGE5 Chaz Chambliss. Later on, Tyler Batty got added back into the mix, too. He’s a DE/OLB hybrid, someone who can flex out wide while also being a 5T.

Again, this one got obliterated. Just four UDFAs? No problem for the Vikings.

Prediction #2 – Justin Jefferson Completes Three Passes

Maybe the passing attack would have benefited from Justin Jefferson throwing the football. After all, a good portion of the season didn’t involve throwing to him, so why not let him throw?

Not only did Jefferson not complete a trio of passes, but he didn’t even attempt a pass. His career has involved going 5/8 on passes, so the idea didn’t come out of nowhere. Nevertheless, a whiff on the guess.

Prediction #3 – The Vikings Blitz Less than 35% of the Time

Eh, not good.

Brian Flores, freshly signed to come back as the DC, sent an added blitzer 44.3% of the time, per Pro Football Reference. No other team in the NFL came anywhere close. In second place were the Falcons, a team down at 33.4%.

Prediction #4 – Javon Hargrave Produces Twice as Many Sacks as Jonathan Allen

Javon Hargrave is a better pass rusher than Jonathan Allen. Nevertheless, Hargrave didn’t fulfill the prediction.

In fact, Hargrave didn’t generate more sacks than Allen. The Gravedigger offered up 3.5 sacks, the exact amount as Allen. He did so in way fewer snaps, but the prediction missed. Hargrave is firmly on the roster bubble. Were there more savings to be had with a cut, Allen would be, as well.

Prediction #5 – The Vikings Get a Pair of Return Touchdowns

In the end, Myles Price was a great returner. His explosive gains didn’t involve scoring any points, though.

Part of what made life more difficult for Price were the penalties. On a few occasions, the explosive gains came back due to the yellow laundry. Keep an eye on him rolling into next year. He has a knack for chewing up yards in a hurry.
