The Vikings Should Consider Bringing Back CB Fabian Moreau

The Minnesota Vikings now know who their top corner trio in 2026 will be. After the signing of James Pierre in March, they now employ a decent-enough triple threat of gentlemen that could help run back the Vikings’ dominant pass defense of 2025.
Byron Murphy Jr., Isaiah Rodgers Sr., and James Pierre are the projected top-three in the CB room. Behind them, it gets a touch murky. Check out the other corners listed on the Vikings’ roster via their official website.
- Dwight McGlothern
- Charles Demmings
- Zemaiah Vaughn
- Tyreek Chappell
- Marcus Allen
- Da’Veawn Armstead
It isn’t the most awe-inspiring list, to say the least. 2026 training camp in July feels like it may determine the future in Minnesota for McGlothern. For that reason, he should be bringing the Vikings his best shot to earn a spot on the roster as a depth piece. Charles Demmings is more likely a long-term project. The 2026 fifth-rounder is a big and physical corner that plays a brand of defense that Brian Flores is inclined to love. Hopes can be high for Demmings in the future, but big production in 2026 feels less likely, as much as I love Charles Demmings.
The Vikings really feel like they could use another veteran in the room to be the CB4 behind Pierre. Fortunately, that potential veteran played for them just last season.
Vikings Could Again Look to Fabian Moreau for CB Depth

Fabian Moreau has technically had two stints with the Minnesota Vikings. The first came in 2024, when he saw 86 coverage snaps, allowing 7 receptions and 2 TDs on 10 targets for a grand total of 67 yards, per PFF. He was credited with a 60.5 coverage grade. Moreau wouldn’t be brought back by Minnesota after the season, and would actually spend some time on the 49ers practice squad before he was released and again acquired by the Vikings in later in 2025.
Moreau saw more playing time after Jeff Okudah went down with injury early in the season. Moreau faced 16 targets, only allowing 8 receptions for 53 yards and no scores.
The obvious concern with Moreau is age, but that concern diminishes if you only need him for one more season. It especially diminishes if Dwight McGlothern turns a corner in his development this season, or if Charles Demmings has an immediate impact. For the record, as a big Demmings guy, I wouldn’t be shocked if that happened whatsoever.
Vikings’ Other Options at CB

Obviously, the best case scenario to solve the Vikings’ corner depth is for one of the young guys to provide an unexpected-but-legitimate leap in development.
Still, there are names other than Fabian Moreau out there to pursue should the Vikings decide they want to play the corner depth safe.
- Marshon Lattimore
- L’Jarius Sneed
- Trevon Diggs
- Kenny White
- Tre’Davious White
- Dane Jackson
These are just a few. All of these men are approaching the age of 30 or have already broken into their 30s.
Cap space also comes into play with some of these names. The Vikings currently have a little over $13 million available to play with in 2026, and some of that could be eaten up by a more pressing need (the edge-rushing depth, perhaps). Some of it must also remain available if Harrison Smith decides he wants come back much later down the line.
A lot of these guys won’t sign with teams, if at all, until some time after training camp. They may love the game, but some aging veterans are known to hold out until closer to the season to sign the deal.
So, why not Moreau? Minnesota can keep roster spots open for one of these young bucks in the corner room to have a shot at some meaningful minutes. Worst case scenario, bring back Fabian Moreau and he already knows his role and how the defense operates.
