It’s time to take our third dive into storylines for these Minnesota Vikings and their storylines (as they currently stand) for each game of the 2025 NFL regular season.

Week 11 – Bears @ Vikings – Division Rivals Tango for Playoff Positioning

By this time of the year, we will very likely know where most teams stand in regard to their position in the playoffs. We will be able to tell who is really going to have a legitimate shot of making the dance as compared to who isn’t, and with these two teams likely to be in a similar spot in Week 11, it makes this matchup all the more interesting.

This time, unlike their Week 1 meeting, the Vikings and Bears square off at noon in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Bears’ new offense under Ben Johnson will likely have taken effect by now, and Vikings fans will know whether or not McCarthy is a legitimate quarterback in the NFL. Both teams will surely be coming into this game with a “must-win” mindset, no different from any other given Sunday.

Week 12 – Vikings @ Packers – McCarthy’s First Contact With the Cheese

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman (51) sacks Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) in the fourth quarter during their football game Sunday, December 29, 2024, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

This game will see the first meeting between QB McCarthy and their border-rival Green Bay Packers. The Vikings will look to break the broom back out in 2025, as with Sam Darnold in 2024, the purple team completed a sweep of the cheeseheads.

This will hopefully be one of many, many meetings between McCarthy and the Packers, and even better would be if it were the beginning of a dark age for Green Bay against the new blood in Minneapolis.

Week 13 – Vikings @ Seahawks – Sam Darnold Revenge Game

As we all knew would happen, Minnesota opted to ride with Plan A and commit to McCarthy long term as their QB instead of Darnold, who, by all metrics, had far and away the best season of his career in 2024 as a Viking.

The Seahawks will host the Vikings in the 3:25 pm time slot for the second consecutive year, the first of which the Vikings won last year with Darnold at the helm in an absolute thriller. Just like Darnold, Vikings fans have this game marked, as it will be used as a litmus test (whether logical or not) for whether or not Minnesota made the right decision on letting Darnold walk and keeping McCarthy as the future of the franchise.

Week 14 – Commanders @ Vikings – McCarthy vs. Daniels in NFC Heavyweight Bout

Assuming Minnesota defies expectations like they did in 2024 and Washington keeps building upon what they’ve got going, this Week 14 clash could be an absolute clash of titans, and a preview of a common matchup amongst the new guard of the NFC.

Daniels and McCarthy, of course, both call the 2024 NFL Draft the origins of their NFL career, and both are part of organizations on the upswing as we approach the late 2020s. With there only being four games left in the season for these teams upon completion of this exhibition, both clubs will be in full-blown playoff mode, especially depending on their positioning amongst the NFC’s seeding.
