The Vikings finished their 2024 regular season in a poor manner, to say the least.

The 14-3 team played well most of the year but failed to show up in the 31-9 defeat in Detroit. Minnesota now finds itself as the second-place team inside the NFC North and the 5th seed in the NFC playoffs. Regardless of how the playoffs go, the Vikings know who they’ll be playing next season.

The Vikings and The 2025 Schedule

Few, if any, will be looking ahead to what’s going to take place from September-December of 2025. Much more pertinent is what’s going to take place on Monday Night Football on January 13th.

Even still, consider the word from Craig Peters of Vikings.com. Peters passes along the seventeen game opponents, delineating between who will be visiting U.S. Bank Stadium and then who will be a road opponent for Kevin O’Connell’s crew.

First off, consider the eight home games.

  • Chicago Bears
  • Detroit Lions
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Washington Commanders
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Atlanta Falcons

Looks like a brutally difficult batch of games. Yes, a team like the Bengals is coming off a relatively poor season, but trying to corral Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase isn’t an easy feat. The division is very difficult and games against the Eagles, Commanders, and Ravens won’t be easy.

Second, there are the road opponents:

  • Chicago Bears
  • Detroit Lions
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Dallas Cowboys
  • New York Giants
  • Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Cleveland Browns
  • Seattle Seahawks
  • Los Angeles Chargers

Again, the cluster of teams looks difficult to conquer. The Giants appear to be the easiest opponent, a reality that seems unlikely to change. Going into Seattle isn’t for the faint of heart and the AFC North (Steelers, Browns) tends to be tough. The Chargers are heading in the right direction, led by Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert.

Seeing Minnesota replicate the 14-3 record against that schedule would be mighty impressive. More likely is a season that’s a bit of a grind, one that could result in another Wild Card appearance.

Before getting there, though, is an opening-round battle with the Rams. The playoff game will take place on Monday, January 13th at 7 p.m. CT. The Rams finished the season at 10-7; notably, their point differential comes in at -19.
