Vikings Linked to 2 Polarizing Veteran Quarterbacks

Death, taxes, and the Minnesota Vikings being in the thick of the rumor mill when it comes to quarterback landing spots. The franchise just added John Wolford to the practice squad, as a veteran presence behind young passers J.J. McCarthy and Max Brosmer.
Of course, as a Vikings fan, you know it can’t just be that simple when it comes to this organization and the rumors that surround it. That’s exactly why on Tuesday, multiple rumors were thrown into the universe regarding these Vikings and a potential trade for a veteran to come in and provide some support for a quarterback room that doesn’t employ a signal caller with more than five career starts.
Vikings Linked to Giants QB Russell Wilson

On Tuesday, Minnesota was linked to New York Giants QB2 Russell Wilson in a post on X.com by Polymarket.
Akin to the other report we’ll cover in a bit, this one is yet to be confirmed by legitimate sources, but Polymarket isn’t just another publication that throws out random things hunting for interactions. It’s the biggest online prediction market in the world that probably has some decent eyes and ears around the major leagues.
Wilson isn’t a truly awful signal caller, yet he doesn’t inspire too much confidence in any fan base among any fan base he’s played for in recent years. He currently resides as the QB2 in the Big Apple for the Giants behind rookie QB Jaxson Dart, and in front of QB3 Jameis Winston, whom the Vikings apparently prefer over Wilson per the Polymarket Football report.
Wilson would surely be a polarizing figure in the Twin Cities, even though he likely wouldn’t see the field (of course, barring the doomsday scenario of another J.J. McCarthy injury). In no way, shape or form, though, would he be nearly as polarizing as the other lead man that the Vikings are rumored to be taking a look at.
Vikings Linked to Falcons QB Kirk Cousins

I’m just as tired of having him brought up as you are, but if these reports are legitimate, then this could be a huge deal for the Vikings.
This sourcing is much more of a long shot than Polymarket Football is with the Wilson rumor, but with the other reports coming out from legitimate sources and aggregators, it could make its fair share of sense.
This would be quite the turn of events, huh? The idea has been floated in the air multiple times this year for a Kirk Cousins reunion in the Twin Cities, but it wouldn’t make a ton of sense for the man himself. The headline itself says that he desires a QB1 opportunity somewhere in the NFL, and Minnesota doesn’t exactly have that available for the old man.
McCarthy is the plan, and Cousins isn’t going to go out of his way to get a trade to a team that would have him be the exact role he is attempting to get out of, that being a backup to a young QB drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Maybe one day, these rumors of Cousins coming back to the Vikings will end, but until then, you can set your clock to Minnesota being brought up in conversations regarding him and having us report the unfortunate news.
