Vikings Tight End Joins Eagles for Playoff Run

The Minnesota Vikings were eliminated by the Los Angeles Rams in what was a winnable game on paper but the team had close to no chance to come out victorious as the contest was virtually decided by halftime. A few days later, those same Rams fell short of beating the Philadelphia Eagles. One guy went from chasing a Super Bowl with the Vikings to attempting the same with the Eagles.
Vikings Tight End Joins Eagles for Playoff Run

That man’s name is Nick Muse, and he had spent his first three NFL campaigns with the Minnesota Vikings, moving between the practice squad and the 53-man roster countless times.
On Wednesday, the Eagles announced via their social media airwaves: “We have signed TE Nick Muse and OL Cameron Erving to the Practice Squad, opened the practice window for WR Britain Covey, and have released DE KJ Henry from the Practice Squad.”
Muse joined the Vikings in the 2022 draft. He was the final pick of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s first draft class, a group that has been criticized ever since because defensive backs Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth didn’t pan out, and Ed Ingram and Brian Asamoah are backups in the Twin Cities.

The tight end, however, has fulfilled the expectations of a seventh-rounder, staying with the club for three seasons and providing valuable depth, although he didn’t see much game action during his time in Minneapolis.
The Vikings signed most of their practice squad players to futures contracts, but Muse chose a different path, wisely from his side, as he now gets a paycheck from the Eagles and could still sign that futures deal with the Vikings or any other team following his team’s elimination (or the Super Bowl).
With C.J. Uzomah on IR, Muse is Philadelphia’s TE4 for the upcoming bout with the Commanders for one Super Bowl ticket. The TE1 is veteran Dallas Goedert, followed by Grant Calcaterra and E.J. Jenkins.
In three seasons with the Vikings, Muse appeared in 16 games (four in 2024) and caught one pass for 22 yards on 19 offensive and 184 special teams snaps. The former South Carolina pass-catcher was a preseason fixture in Minnesota, tabulating 15 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown.

The Vikings, meanwhile, move forward with top tight end T.J. Hockenson and blocking counterpart Josh Oliver, who might be on the chopping block considering the potential savings. Kevin O’Connell’s favorite, Johnny Mundt, has not gotten a contract extension yet and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
Muse, 26, is unlikely to see playing time with the Eagles in the playoff tournament, but crazier things have happened.
