The View from VT: March 29th, 2025

1) There’s a Ryan Tannehill Update for Vikings: No doubt, the veteran holds a lot of appeal. For starters, he’s a former high pick, allowing him to relate to J.J. McCarthy (which is an important part of being a great backup). Even better, perhaps, is that there’s potentially enough talent to jump into the lineup and win.

2) Longtime Viking Says Goodbye: Camryn Bynum has proven to be a strong defender, a safety capable of making a difference on a weekly basis. He clearly still has a lot of affection for Minnesota. Wish him well with the Colts.

3) The Dark Horse QB2 for Vikings: Lots of focus lately on the possibilities at quarterback. Aaron Rodgers isn’t likely, meaning Minnesota is moving ahead with a twosome consisting of J.J. McCarthy and Brett Rypien. Is there an unexpected option for the main backup spot?

4) Vikings QB2 Search Now Has 8 Options: The more time passes, the more passers get scooped up. Minnesota’s front office appears unfazed. Quite evidently, there’s some confidence about the in-house options alongside some confidence in being able to make an addition at a later date.

5) New Backup QB Enters Vikings Rumor Mill: Going to argue that the fit doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Vikings. To my mind, the QB2 ought to be someone with a lot of experience, not a young guy who could still have potential that’s yet to be reached. But, to be sure, sometimes Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell have different ideas (I’ve yet to be consulted before the Vikings make a personnel decision; I’m not holding my breath).
