Pro Football Focus has unleashed a comprehensive ranking of all 32 NFL teams’ receiving corps ahead of the 2025 NFL season, and the Vikings’ place in the mix may bring a bit of a head-scratcher to the purple loyal.

The Vikings came home 6th on these ranks, right behind the 5th-place San Francisco 49ers (that just traded Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders) and right ahead of the 7th-place Miami Dolphins. It is important to note that PFF included tight ends and running backs as part of these teams’ passing attack.

Now compare those units to the Vikings, and make your analysis:

  • Minnesota Vikings Receiving Corps:
    • WRs: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jalen Nailor, Tai Felton
    • RBs: Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason
    • TEs: T.J. Hockenson, Josh Oliver, Gavin Bartholomew

Here is the PFF explanation for the Vikings coming in 6th:

Minnesota claimed the fourth-highest team PFF receiving grade in 2024 (82.1). Justin Jefferson’s resume speaks for itself at this point; he has logged five straight seasons with 88.0-plus PFF receiving grades and 2.40 yards per route run. Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson and Aaron Jones all recorded PFF receiving grades above 70.0 in 2024, and the Vikings also added Tai Felton, Rondale Moore and Jordan Mason to the mix for 2025.

It may be a tough pill to swallow, but 6th place may actually be a justified spot in these rankings for our beloved Minnesota Vikings. The thing that has kept them from being the consensus best receiving corps is their lack of legitimacy behind Jefferson and Addison, something that the team hopes Jalen Nailor or rookie Tai Felton eventually provides.

It’s also important to note that three of the five teams ahead of them employ an elite running back.

If you were looking at the wide receiver position alone, then the Vikings would likely do a spot or two better. They would pretty surely overtake the 49ers for 5th place, but the fact that the red team out west employs a top 3 RB in the NFL when healthy, as well as the best TE in the NFL gives them the advantage when zooming out and looking at the entirety of the receiving corps of the teams.
