Saying that the Vikings injury situation has been grim would be akin to saying that Caribou Coffee sells caffeine. No one will be shocked by the revelation.

What may be more helpful, then, is a more specific focus on where players stand. Instead of bunching the individuals together, the effort made here is to offer a player-by-player update. Informing the article is the Vikings’ most recent injury updates. Note, too, that the injured Vikings are sorted in an alphabetical manner based on last name.

Every Vikings Injury at the Present Moment

Gavin Bartholomew, Tight End

Sep 14, 2024; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA; West Virginia Mountaineers cornerback Garnett Hollis Jr. (1) battles Pittsburgh Panthers tight end Gavin Bartholomew (86) for a pass in the fourth quarter at Acrisure Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Barry Reeger-Image Images

Injury: Back.

Games Missed: All of 2025.

Commentary: Quickly fading into the background, Gavin Bartholomew may lose his entire rookie season. The hope is that he’ll get healthy in time for 2026 before going on to have a very productive NFL career.

Tyler Batty, Edge Rusher

Nov 23, 2024; Tempe, Arizona, USA; Brigham Young Cougars defensive end Tyler Batty (92) against the Arizona State Sun Devils at Mountain America Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images

Injury: Knee.

Games Missed: All of 2025.

Commentary: The large lad created a ruckus at training camp. He is operating from within the 21-day window to come off the IR. As a result, the Vikings need to make a decision soon or risk not having him for the season in its entirety. Just note that activating Batty off the IR means subtracting someone from the roster.

Blake Cashman, Linebacker

Jun 10, 2025; Minneapolis, MN, USA; Minnesota Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman (51) practices during minicamp at the Minnesota Vikings Training Facility. Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn Images

Injury: Hamstring.

Games Missed: Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, & Week 5.

Commentary: Recently, Mr. Cashman called his hamstring “bulletproof.” One has to assume that being able to withstand a bullet means he’ll soon get back onto the field. He has been fully jumping into the mix at practice.

Ty Chandler, Running Back

Syndication: The Enquirer
Minnesota Vikings running back Ty Chandler (32) dives for the end zone as Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt (57) and Cincinnati Bengals safety Dax Hill (23) defend in the first quarter of a Week 15 NFL football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Bengals, Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati.

Injury: Knee.

Games Missed: Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, & Week 5.

Commentary: Hard to know when he’ll return. Chandler was one of the rare Vikings who didn’t make the trip overseas, suggesting that the injury prognosis isn’t particularly positive.

Zeke Correll, Center

Nov 9, 2024; Raleigh, North Carolina, USA; North Carolina State Wolfpack offensive lineman Zeke Correll (56) runs out on Senior Day prior to the first half of the game against Duke Blue Devils at Carter-Finley Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jaylynn Nash-Imagn Images

Injury: Ankle.

Games Missed: All of 2025.

Commentary: In theory, Mr. Correll could have worked as center depth had he still been available. Losing both of Ryan Kelly and Michael Jurgens meant that there needed to be a Blake Brandel shuffle.

Jonathan Greenard, Edge Rusher

Dec 1, 2024; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard (58) reacts during the second quarter against the Arizona Cardinals at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images

Injury: Hamstring.

Games Missed: N/A.

Commentary: The Greenard inclusion comes as a surprise. He wasn’t listed on Wednesday but was on Thursday. Ideally, whatever came up is exceedingly minor and Minnesota was just demonstrating ample caution.

Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, Defensive Tackle

Oct 12, 2024; Athens, Georgia, USA; Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins (93) leads the team through the banner before a game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Brett Davis-Imagn Images

Injury: Hip.

Games Missed: N/A.

Commentary: The rookie d-lineman has been limited at practice. Doesn’t appear to be a major issue, though.

Donovan Jackson, Left Guard

Sep 21, 2025; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz (11) walks up to the line of scrimmage, protected by left tackle Christian Darrisaw (71) and left guard Donovan Jackson (74), during the first half against the Cincinnati Bengals at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images

Injury: Wrist.

Games Missed: Week 4 & Week 5.

Commentary: Mr. Jackson has been showing promise and ruggedness. He’s selfless, too. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah appears to have made a wise move by welcoming the young lineman to town. He’s offering limited work in practice.

Aaron Jones, Running Back

NFL: Houston Texans at Minnesota Vikings
Sep 22, 2024; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (33) runs with the ball against the Houston Texans in the third quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Brad Rempel-Imagn Images

Injury: Hamstring.

Games Missed: Week 3, Week 4, & Week 5.

Commentary: The top runner may not be the top runner when he returns. He is, nevertheless, a great leader who brings the Vikings some coveted versatility. Minnesota is a better team when Jones is available. He can get back onto the field in Week 8, at the earliest.

Michael Jurgens, Center

Aug 10, 2024; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy (9) and center Michael Jurgens (65) warm up before the game against the Las Vegas Raiders at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Injury: Hamstring.

Games Missed: Week 5.

Commentary: Michael Jurgens could end up being the long-term center for J.J. McCarthy. Working toward that long-term goal is going to involve him getting healthy and back into action for the 2025 Vikings.

Ryan Kelly, Center

Sep 28, 2025; Dublin, Ireland; Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz (11) takes the snap from center Ryan Kelly (78) in the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers during an NFL International Series game at Croke Park. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

Injury: Concussion.

Games Missed: Week 3 and Week 5.

Commentary: The rugged lineman needs to consider his long-term health. Give Mr. Kelly time.

J.J. McCarthy, Quarterback

Sep 14, 2025; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy (9) reacts after a play during the first half against the Atlanta Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn Images

Injury: Ankle.

Games Missed: Week 3, Week 4, & Week 5.

Commentary: Expect the kid QB to be active in Week 7. If not, then not sliding him to the IR will appear quite odd. Whether he starts the game is what’s so fascinating.

Rondale Moore, Receiver/Returner

Jul 29, 2025; Eagan, MN, USA; Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore (4) takes part in drills during the teams training camp at the Minnesota Vikings Training Facility. Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn Images

Injury: Knee.

Games Missed: All of 2025.

Commentary: Not lacking in talent, Moore lost his season before it could begin. Maybe Minnesota gives him another whirl in 2026.

Matt Nelson, Offensive Tackle

Vikings Favored by 5.5 Points over Bears in Week 18
Jan 9, 2022; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury (56) before the snap against the Chicago Bears during the second quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Injury: Bicep.

Games Missed: All of 2025.

Commentary: Truth be told, Mr. Nelson was facing an uphill battle to get onto the team. Still a tough injury update for the veteran. Possible he sticks around to compete in 2026.

Brian O’Neill, Right Tackle

RT Brian O'Neill
Nov 24, 2022; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Brian O’Neill (75) celebrates the win after the game against the New England Patriots at U.S. Bank Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

Injury: Knee.

Games Missed: Week 5.

Commentary: He’s a great right tackle. Seeing him out there in Week 7 versus the Eagles would be a major boost, though it’s tough to know if that’s realistic. He is offering limited work in practice.

Andrew Van Ginkel, Edge Rusher

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at New York Giants
Sep 8, 2024; East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA; Minnesota Vikings linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (43) celebrates his interception return for a touchdown against the New York Giants during the second half at MetLife Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images

Injury: Neck.

Games Missed: Week 2, Week 4, & Week 5.

Commentary: The bad news is that it’s a neck injury. Playing through, for instance, a bad finger would be more advisable. The good news is that he’s getting some work in practice.

Carson Wentz, Quarterback

Sep 28, 2025; Dublin, Ireland; Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz (11) runs for a gain during the third quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers during an NFL International Series game at Croke Park. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images

Injury: Shoulder.

Games Missed: N/A.

Commentary: The bye arrived at the right time. Mr. Wentz has been solid as the QB1 fill-in. Moving forward, the goal will be that he can be a strong QB2. He’s fully in the mix at practice.
