Minnesota’s abysmal 2022 draft class is still floating around the Twin Cities as a blemish on Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s resume. Indeed, the class was a disaster, as only Ty Chandler and Jalen Nailor remain on the team in season four.

The top picks, Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth, were off the team in record time. Ed Ingram and Brian Asamoah departed this year. Vederian Lowe and Esezi Otomewo have occasional playing time in the AFC, but their Vikings stints ended years ago. Akayleb Evans is on Carolina’s roster.

One guy who was just axed from his team is tight end Nick Muse. He was Adofo-Mensah’s last pick in April of 2022. The Los Angeles Rams announced that their former practice-squad employee is now back in the job market.

Rams Wire‘s Tyler Greenawalt wrote Tuesday, “Muse, 27, joined the Rams practice squad in the middle of November. He wasn’t promoted to the active roster over the past month and hasn’t played a regular-season snap since 2024.”

Rams head coach Sean McVay has discovered his love for heavy personnel this year. He’s suddenly deploying several tight ends on various plays and needs good depth at the position. Currently on the roster are Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen, rookie Terrance Ferguson, and former Viking Nick Vannett, who the Rams stole off Minnesota’s practice squad a couple of weeks ago. Veteran Tyler Higbee is on IR, and rookie Mark Redman is on the practice squad.

Minnesota’s 227th overall pick in the 2022 draft played his college ball at William & Mary, followed by a three-year stint at South Carolina. During his tenure with the Vikings, he was moved between the practice squad and the 53-man roster countless times.

He ultimately appeared in 16 games (four in 2024) and caught one pass for 22 yards on 19 offensive and 184 special teams snaps. The former South Carolina pass-catcher was a preseason fixture in Minnesota, tabulating 15 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Muse contributed in ten games in his rookie season, but exclusively on special teams. His most offensive snaps came in 2024 when he was on the field for exactly 17 reps. His regular-season playing time was largely uneventful.

After the Vikings were bounced from playoff contention last season, the practice squad player was free to sign with any other team. Most players agree to futures contracts with someone, but Muse chose a different option. He was acquired by the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Eagles, for their postseason run. Unlike all the other departed players from the 2022 class, Muse left on his own.

Muse is technically a Super Bowl champion, although he didn’t play. In the offseason, he attempted to make Philadelphia’s 53-man roster but was cut in August. This year, he had stints with the Cardinals and Rams, but didn’t appear in a game with either organization.

The tight end turned 27 last month.
