This Deshaun Watson to Detroit Trade Idea is Awesome

It’s June, and you know what that means; sometimes, you gotta go deep into the bag of takes as a writer, and that’s exactly what happened in a piece on The Wrightway Sports Network.
In an absolutely awesome piece detailing the possibility of the Detroit Lions sending a fourth and fifth rounder to the Cleveland Browns for QB Deshaun Watson, my jaw went to the floor and stayed there, just like Watson’s play since he arrived in Cleveland. You can imagine my shock when I read the words: “The Browns Must Trade Deshaun Watson While He Still Has Value.”
In a truly epic piece of sports writing that had me pumping my fist in the air as I read every last word, I was officially sold before I even began reading the masterpiece. It is titled “The Cleveland Browns Will Trade Deshaun Watson to the Detroit Lions”, and as someone who probably shouldn’t be legally allowed to dress himself in the morning or have opinions on anything, I was captivated and decided to believe it will happen.

I was in a trance as the words jumped off the screen.
“When the Lions needed Jared Goff to play at an MVP level, that gear just wasn’t available.” So true.
“Having an insurance policy in case Goff’s play continues to regress would be smart and it would give Watson time to rehab from his torn Achilles.” I never thought of it that way.
Slowly, I became a believer in this theory. With such conviction, a case was made for the Lions to make Deshaun Watson the succession plan for Jared Goff after his time in Detroit is done, or if he “continues to regress.” Good points were made, citing Deshaun Watson’s numerous incredible flashes of talent.

Oh, what? Did that only happen before and during the COVID-19 pandemic? Well, surely we can give him the benefit of the doubt. Deshaun Watson is a completely stand-up guy…right?
The Browns currently sport a very full QB room with some absolute all-star names, making Watson potentially expendable to go save another team just like he saved Cleveland. Names like 2025 Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel. What a room. The Lions probably wouldn’t have to give up much to get Deshaun Watson, and as the piece said, the Browns could take a trade and run.

As a Vikings fan, I hereby declare myself ALL IN on this hypothetical trade that totally makes sense for the Lions, wouldn’t devastate them financially, and in no way could harm the fantastic culture that Dan Campbell has been building for the last couple of years. That would be preposterous to think so! I truly believe that we, as Vikings fans, should band together and make this bigger than football; let’s help our NFC North brethren out and get Deshaun Watson to the Motor City!
Unfortunately, I do have to let the cat out of the bag, as there are people who will actually believe I’m being serious. Therefore, for legal reasons, this article is satire.
