The Complete List of Vikings Free Agents

Free agency begins on Monday with the start of the legal tampering window. Players are allowed to have their representation talk to other teams. That’s when the Kirk Cousins tampering story took place, as he admitted he had talked to the medical staff of other teams. Players can then sign new deals on Wednesday.
The Complete List of Vikings Free Agents
The Vikings have a long list of free agents, including some major contributors. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah will be busy re-signing or replacing all of them.
Here’s the full list of in-house free agents.
Quarterbacks
- Sam Darnold
- Nick Mullens
- Daniel Jones

Brett Rypien was re-signed, and he can be penciled in as the QB3 behind J.J. McCarthy and a QB whose identity is unknown.
Sam Darnold could be back for a second season, and Daniel Jones is another feasible option. Nick Mullens held the QB2 duties for three seasons, but the club might seek an upgrade.
Running Backs
- Aaron Jones
- Cam Akers
Aaron Jones said in January that he would like to come back, and Kevin O’Connell claimed that he would love his RB1 to come back. However, the NFL is a business, and nothing is guaranteed.
Cam Akers was a trade acquisition in consecutive seasons. The Vikings could save some time by just signing him in the offseason.
Wide Receiver
- Brandon Powell
- Trent Sherfield

Both Brandon Powell and Trent Sherfield were depth receivers in 2024 who had specific roles.
Powell is a quick wideout who was often used as the receiver on screens and other gadget plays; Sherfield was utilized as a blocking wideout. In addition to that, Sherfield was a premier special teamer while Powell returned punts.
Tight End
- Johnny Mundt
The tight end group will once again led by T.J. Hockenson and Josh Oliver, but the role of the TE3 behind them is still vacant.
Johnny Mundt is a do-it-all player, one of O’Connell’s favorites, and was decent in that role.
Offensive Tackle
- Cam Robinson
- David Quessenberry

Cam Robinson was acquired at the trade deadline to take over for injured star left tackle Christian Darrisaw. It would be highly surprising to see him return for another season.
David Quessenberry is an experienced swing tackle backup. He is a candidate to return, although the team might seek an upgrade depending on Darrisaw’s recovery timeline.
Offensive Guard/Center
- Dalton Risner
- Dan Feeney
Dalton Risner joined the Vikings late in the last two years but ultimately entered the starting rotation each time. Due to the Vikings’ intention to have a better interior line, he might be gone for good this time.
Dan Feeney functioned as the backup center. He shouldn’t be expensive if the front office wants to run it back.
Defensive Interior
- Jonathan Bullard
- Jerry Tillery

Another position that could use an upgrade is the defensive interior, with two veteran rotational players on their way out.
Jerry Tillery lost his job late in the season to Jalen Redmond. Jonathan Bullard is a better bet to be on the team in 2025.
EDGE
- Patrick Jones
- Jihad Ward
Patrick Jones might have earned himself a decent payday with his seven sacks last year. He is unlikely to return because Dallas Turner needs more snaps.
Jihad Ward lined up primarily on the inside as a pass-rush specialist. If the Vikings can’t find someone better, he could claim that same role again.
Linebacker
- Kamu Grugier-Hill

Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace are the two top linebackers, but the Vikings have shown that Brian Asamoah isn’t trusted in Brian Flores’ defense. A new third linebacker is needed, but Kamu Grugier-Hill was solid in that spot.
Safety
- Harrison Smith
- Cam Bynum
Theo Jackson was just re-signed, indicating that at least one of the starting duo, Harrison Smith and Cam Bynum, will depart.
Smith is contemplating retirement, while Bynum will be an expensive free agent.
Cornerback
- Byron Murphy
- Stephon Gilmore
- Shaq Griffin
- Fabian Moreau

Byron Murphy will be one of the top earners in the upcoming free agency period. His departure would leave a gaping hole in the secondary.
Stephon Gilmore has talked about retirement earlier in the offseason. Shaq Griffin was actually trustworthy in his CB3 role. Fabian Moreau was the top backup.
The secondary could look a lot differently in a couple of months.
Punter
- Ryan Wright
Ryan Wright earned a ton of praise in his rookie season, but the last two seasons were a bit disappointing. There have been rumblings about a change-up at the special teams position.
