Even Viktor the Viking Wants in on the MIN QB Hype
Take a few minutes for social media and it won’t be tough to see moments when Viktor the Viking is sending along some zingers.
The Minnesota mascot has an active presence on X/Twitter, creating a few chuckles along the way as the enigmatic man behind the mask navigates social media with snark and aplomb. A recent highlight video from the Vikings got shared by the official NFL account and Viktor was sure to jump into the comments to offer his take.
Viktor the Vikings and the QB Hype in Minnesota
Start off with the play.
Minnesota is working on a red zone drill. J.J. McCarthy steps back and fires a bullet of a pass. Jalen Nailor snatches the ball over the outstretched arm of corner Andrew Booth Jr. Safety Jay Ward is in the area, but he isn’t able to stop the toe-tapping catch from occurring. The moment is yet another reminder that Minnesota’s kid QB has a fastball.
Take a look for yourself:
The NFL, of course, is more than happy to promote the great moments that are taking place across the league. What’s a bit more surprising is when a team mascot jumps into the fray to provide some thoughts in the comments.
Viktor, though, is no ordinary mascot. He replied, “Get used to this.”
For whatever it’s worth, the quip from Viktor comes after the mascot did a bit of research. On July 18th, Viktor’s account sent out this thought: “Thinking about making a trip to Ann Arbor and @UMich to learn more about this McCarthy guy. Anybody have any recommendations on campus?”
True to his word, Viktor did a bit of research into J.J. McCarthy:
At the end of the day, it remains to be seen if McCarthy will develop into an excellent NFL passer. There’s optimism, yes, but there’s also considerable work ahead. The 21-year-old is still the QB2 and likely will be for a little while.
One thing that’s certain is that Viktor does some snarky work on social media and has become a believer in Minnesota’s new passer.
