The Vikings played all 17 games in the U.S. during 2023.

However, that is set to change next season as the NFL announced on Thursday that the Vikings will host a game in London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2024. The opponent and week is yet to be determined for Minnesota, but we do know that the game will come against one of the Vikings’ nine home opponents for next season.

The Minnesota Vikings tweeted on Thursday morning, confirming the announcement, “London bound! The #Vikings have been designated to host a regular season game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the 2024 season.”

Seeing as the Vikings are slated to play nine home games compared to eight road games, this decision makes sense. It means Minnesota will now have an even schedule of eight true home games inside U.S. Bank Stadium, eight true road games, and another “home” game in London.

With it being a home game, here are the nine teams that Minnesota could potentially go up against in London:

  • Arizona Cardinals
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Chicago Bears
  • Detroit Lions
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Houston Texans
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • New York Jets
  • San Francisco 49ers

Since the NFL International Series got started in 2007, the Vikings have made three trips to London. They have a 3-0 record in those games. They played their first regular-season game in London back in 2013, earning a 34-27 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Vikings made their next trip to London in 2017, and again they were matched up with an AFC North opponent, playing the Cleveland Browns. The Vikings earned a dominant win in that game, beating the Browns 33-16.

And most recently, the Vikings were a “road” team in 2022 when they went up against the New Orleans Saints in London. They won that game by a score of 28-25 after Wil Lutz hit the upright and crossbar on a 61-yard field goal attempt to try and tie the game.

Prior to the NFL International Series, the Vikings actually played the first NFL preseason game on European soil back in 1983 when they went up against the Arizona Cardinals and won.

Minnesota is one of four teams to hold a 3-0 record in the International Series, joining the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers. The two other teams that will host a game in London this year are the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars.
