The Vikings Will Take on an Old Nemesis in London during Week 5
The 2024 NFL schedule release is slated to take place on Wednesday evening.
Before that happens, though, a few games have been leaked to the public already, including one of Minnesota’s preseason matchups in August. It now appears that we know the first game of the Vikings schedule in 2024, and it has to do with their trip to London.
That trip across the pond will take place in Week 5, and in that game, the Vikings will play host to an old nemesis, Aaron Rodgers, and the New York Jets.
Vikings Schedule: Week 5 vs. New York Jets in London
The news was announced by Adam Schefter of ESPN, who tweeted, “Jets and Vikings will play in London on Sunday, Oct. 6.”
Rodgers was traded to the Jets from the Green Bay Packers prior to the start of the 2023 season, but his campaign ended after just four plays because of a torn Achilles — the same injury that Kirk Cousins would suffer less than two months later against the Packers in Week 8.
In the wake of that injury, the Jets had to bounce between Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Trevor Siemian for starts at the quarterback position. They heavily relied on their defense to remain competitive in games but stumbled to a 7-10 record.
That trade meant the Vikings got a year off from the Rodgers treatment, but Minnesota will once again take on the four-time MVP in 2024.
For well over a decade, Rodgers tortured Vikings fans in the regular season. Throughout his tenure in Green Bay, the QB matched up against the Vikings 29 times, and Minnesota had a paltry 11-17-1 record against Rodgers. He threw for 7157 yards, 57 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions in those games.
Rodgers’ 30th matchup against the Vikings comes at age-40 as he tries to take the Jets on a run to the playoffs coming off his season-ending injury.
The game will technically be a “home” matchup for the Vikings in London.
