The Minnesota Vikings have had a very busy offseason rebuilding their roster.

The roster reconstruction phase of the offseason will culminate with the 2024 NFL Draft set to take place from April 25th-27th. Then, the Vikings offseason will become all about implementing and familiarizing these new pieces into their new roles. The Vikings officially announced their offseason workout schedule this week.

The Vikings released a publication on their website, which laid out the workout dates. In just a few short weeks, on April 15th, the voluntary workout program will begin for the players at TCO Performance Center.

Then, about a month after the draft takes place, the full team will be able to get together for the first time of the offseason during OTAs. These dates are set for:

  • Monday, May 20th
  • Tuesday, May 21st
  • Thursday, May 23rd
  • Tuesday, May 28th
  • Wednesday, May 29th
  • Friday, May 31st
  • Monday, June 10th – Thursday, June 13th

Finally, mandatory minicamp is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4th through Thursday, June 6th, which entails that the Vikings will go through their mandatory minicamp prior to the final week of OTAs this year.

This spring’s offseason workouts will be extra important to the Vikings if they want to build chemistry and turn things around from their 7-10 result during the 2023 season. This offseason has brought on a ton of change for Minnesota.

First and foremost, they will be implementing a brand new starting quarterback into the offense. With Kirk Cousins’ departure for the Atlanta Falcons, there will be a new man under center in Minnesota this fall whether it be Sam Darnold or a rookie that they select in the draft.

The Vikings also will have a number of changes to their defensive starting lineup. Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel will replace the trio of Marcus Davenport, Danielle Hunter, and D.J. Wonnum at the outside linebacker spot. Then, Blake Cashman comes in to replace Jordan Hicks at off-ball linebacker.

Finally, these practices could prove to be a “deadline” of sorts for Minnesota and star receiver Justin Jefferson to reach a contract agreement. The Vikings inevitably will want their best player on the field alongside their new starting quarterback, but if they don’t get Jefferson signed to a deal before these practices, he could end up holding out.

Regardless, the Vikings officially have practice dates set for both their OTAs and mandatory minicamp this spring. The training camp schedule has not yet been released.
