The 2024 NFL Draft is officially less than a month away, and we are in the midst of teams getting final glimpses at prospects before the event.

One way to do exactly that is through pro days and individual visits with the players that could soon join their rosters. With LSU’s pro day taking place on Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings are getting a look at QB prospect Jayden Daniels, and after the pro day, they have a meeting scheduled with the flamethrowing quarterback.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network named the Vikings among six teams that Daniels will meet with after his pro day, tweeting, “Immediately following his Pro Day, #LSU QB and potential Top 3 pick Jayden Daniels is scheduled to meet with the #Patriots, #Commanders, #Giants, #Vikings, #Broncos and #Raiders, per his agent Ron Butler. Daniels has not previously met with any teams.”

Daniels is coming off a fantastic season with the LSU Tigers in which he won the Heisman. During the 2023 campaign, the quarterback threw for 3812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions while completing 72.2% of his passes. On top of these elite passing totals, he put together an additional 1250 rushing yards and 10 TDs while averaging over 10 yards per carry.

Daniels possesses a rocket of an arm which allows him to spread the ball across all three levels of the field, and he throws accurately as well. His average depth of target was 10.5 yards this season, ranking 17th among 86 QBs in college football with at least 300 drop backs, per PFF.

Of course, the expectation is that Daniels will be a hot commodity when the draft arrives, and this is evidenced by the fact that the quarterback is set to meet with a number of QB-needy teams, including the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and New York Giants, who all sit above the Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, there is still a glimmer of hope that the Vikings could land the dynamic passer when April 25th arrives. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network dropped a little tidbit on NFL Insiders this week saying, “When I’ve had conversations here with executives from other teams who know [Washington Commanders GM] Adam Peters well, know the situation well, the most popular answer for what [the Commanders] do at number two, is J.J. McCarthy.”

If the Commanders do decide to opt for the Michigan QB, then there is a much higher chance that Minnesota could find a way to snatch Daniels.

For now, though, Vikings fans will have to settle for a meeting between Daniels and Minnesota. Currently, the Vikings hold both the 11th and 23rd overall picks in this spring’s draft, potentially giving them enough ammo to convince a team to trade down and allow them to select their QB of the future.
